  1. Excuse my ignorance, but is the Pacific Coast Red Book saying that a 1930 Viking Convertible Coup that retailed for $1695 in 1930 was worth just $250 in December 1932?
  2. Nick often has quite interesting cars for sale. He also has a nice 1953 Starlight coupe for sale at the moment.
  3. A brief for salvation... My 1951 is a Montana car stored outside with deficient paint coverage - just mild surface rust, intact frame and floors, not even rusty threads on the bolts! Peter Sefton
  4. totally agree about the economics of a correct restoration. But wouldn't it be cool to make it basically functional and somewhat presentable? Uniqueness c an be as interesting as beauty. Peter S.
  5. Love that upholstery! I know the pattern is plaid, but is there a name for that type of seatcover? Peter Sefton
  6. Curious about the experience of owning / driving one. I'm familiar with the car,
  7. Didn't Ernie Kovacs get killed driving a Lakewood like this??
  8. idly wondering why the wood work on these is so costly... Obviously crsftspersonship is required. but it doesn't look a lot more complicated than a wooden boat.
  9. https://www.collarcityauctionsonline.com/servlet/List.do?auctionId=727 ??
  10. Outstanding 1953-54 Chryslers are coming out of the woodwork! This is like the 4th posted in the past week or so.
  11. The fact is that there is virtually no way to "break even" on any even a partial restoration. The incremental costs of storage and insurance, the value of "sunk time," and most especially the opportunity-cost of the funds tied up in the project will more than wipe out any margin between buying and selling price that exists on paper. So you may as while focus on something unique and beautiful. There's a reason that the saying is "For love OR money."
  12. Sure-Fit and Rayco were big brands
  13. Is anyone reproducing vintage seat covers from the 1940s and 1950s. These were marketed by retailers like JC Whitney, Western Auto, or Firestone under a variety of brand names, like Rayco, They were made of vinyl-type plastic in bright patterns, especially plaid. Here's a sample pic from ebay.
  14. does anybody repro those plaid seat covers? I think they are a great look.
  15. Great car! Always wondered whether that Edsel got a good home, but it would be off topic to ask.
  16. Wasn't Evelyn Lincoln (seller) the name of JFK's famously devoted private secretary? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evelyn_Lincoln Oh. yes. it's a nice car!
