  1. Cool! My wife would love the Elephant.
  2. If you could pick it up for a decent price, do whatever mechanical work needs to be done and give it a good cleaning, I think it would make a good unique driver the way it is.
  3. Many years ago, I purchased a soft cover book on Canadian cars written by Perry Zavitz of something like that. I think there's an initial in front of Perry, like "S" or something. I'll have to find it. While it didn't have many illustrations, it had very good descriptions of Canadian cars and the differences between Canadian and US makes.
  4. Merry Christmas everyone. I hope everyone has a great day! I'm sitting here, killing time until family arrives. It started snowing about an hour ago and although it adds to the day, I hope the traveling isn't too bad. Our daughter and grandson are on their way from New Hampshire; they are the farthest away. Eveyone else is within 7-25 miles.
  5. Was it "Wrecks to Riches"? I couldn't remember. I still get up set thinking about it.
  6. Wish I wasn't 600 miles away so the wife and I could spend a Saturday doing this!
  7. It wasn't Overhaulin' but on a similar show a few years ago, they bought a totally original base '71 Torino 2 door sedan with a 6 cyl., 3 on the tree with power steering and an AM radio and 7,000 original miles and turned it into a fake Torino GT with a 427, 4 speed and slicks. It broke my heart. How many '71 Torino 2 door sedans with a 3 on the tree are there out there? Pure travesty.
  8. Marty and Art - If I make it to Lakeland, I will definitely try to find you. I don't know about getting involved with the AACA there as we only plan to be in Florida for couple of months, at least in 2013. I would love to have an antique car in Florida but it wouldn't be practical for me to have one. Of course, that doesn't mean I can't come to meets and such.
  9. That is one nice Ford! I would do whatever mechanical work needed to be done to make it road worthy and leave the rest of it alone. It pays to be nice to your neighbors!
  10. I don't remember when I joined the AACA - Hershey in 2008, maybe - but I see from my postings, that I joined this forum in July 2009, so going on 3 1/2 years. I've enjoyed it very much and am actually getting used to this new format that I squawked about so much when it changed. So congrats on 10 years Ed. I hope I catch up to you one of these years!
  11. Art, thanks, yeah, I know nothing's as large as Hershey! 56 years in Florida? I've wanted to get away from winter since my teen years and I almost moved to Florida back when I got out of college, but I met my wife, we started a family, and well life happened. Now that I'm retiring and have a place there, I am anxious to get out of the snow and cold. I've always said I would head south the day after the morning low hit 40° in the fall and wouldn't come back until mid-May but my wife doesn't want to be away from the family that long. She's saying we'll stay a few weeks, I'm saying a few months, so we'll see. I'm hoping once she gets there, she'll decide she likes it. I, on the other hand, have told her that I have only been to Florida for 10 days or 2 weeks at a time and I've played tourist. I don't know what it's like to live there and may get bored after month - I don't know. But we have the place, it didn't cost us anything and we need to try it and find out.
  12. Kevin, thanks. I mapped it out and you're right, Park Blvd. to 275, across the Frankland Bridge to I4. I'm definitely going to try and make it. I've been attending Hershey since 2004 so it will be interesting to see the differences. I just wish I could get my 72 LTD to Florida........
  13. 1962 Super 88 2 door hardtop, black, grey interior, just like the one my uncle had when I was a teenager. He had it for 8 years, 1963-1971.
  14. As I am retiring December 28th and the wife and I will be heading to Florida at the end of January, I would very much like to ride over to Lakeland for this meet. I inherited my uncle's place in Seminole 3 years ago so am an hour and half (?) away from Lakeland. Would it be worth staying overnight or could I easily go back and forth if I wanted to come over for more than a day?
  15. Interesting - before I traded my Mustang convertible for a new Taurus, I put it up for the winter and rode around in the rusty but low mile '89 Cutlass I inherited from my uncle. I used it for 3 winters and never worried one bit about getting hit, door dings or whatever. It was refreshing!
  16. This car came with regular black walls or white walls; that's what I would go with. I have never liked raised letter tires especially on a car that never came with them. But, it's your car and your decision.
  17. Got to get the LTD out tomorrow or Sunday, fill it with gas, put in the Stabil and park it for the winter. Did the Buick a couple of weeks ago.........
  18. If this happened to me, it wouldn't matter what the car was because I would drop dead from the shock if my wife did this. I have two antique cars and she thinks that's two too many. She's told me that once I retire, I'll have to stop going to Hershey and I told her that's not on the table so don't even bring it up. I've always wanted an Edsel or a Ford Skyliner, so those would be my first two choices, third would be a '64 Galaxie 500XL 4 door hardtop.
  19. We have flourescents over the washer and dryer in our basement. Wife came upstairs this morning and said they weren't coming on. Sure enough, one had burned out. I went down to Wally World and bought 2 packages (4 bulbs). The had a whole rack of them. We've lived here 21 years and I think I've replaced them one other time, so I'm thinking what I bought will last as long as I do. I also bought a few packages of regular light bulbs.
  20. Unusual find to say the least. I have two consecutive Maine plates used from '68-'73 off my parent's car and my grandfather's.
  21. I don't remember the year, but there was a '74-'77 Regal in the car corral at Hershey this year. It was red with a black vinyl roof and black vinyl interior. Very sharp car.
  22. The closest Suzuki dealer to me used to be Lincoln-Mercury-Suzuki. They had two locations but when Mercury bit the dust, they gave up Lincoln, closed their large store and sold Suzukis out of the smaller store. Too bad, with different ownership, that dealership had been around since the 50's.
  23. I have always loved the '68 Park Lane, Steve McGarrett's car. Of course, his was all black and a 4 door hardtop. Wife says I can't buy anything else unless I sell what I have first - which to me is backwards, but then.....
