  1. I wish I had another 38.. I did install both of these parts and they were perfect..special shifter grommet is vital...Thanks from a few years ago... jb
  2. unibody car was all painted body color--inc lines, most all other bolt ons are semi gloss black, trumpet horn screens and screws on horns silver, hood hinges body--fender braces and pans black volt reg /horn relay/starter sol / od box all natural cad silver..fan black vib dampner green- fuel pump is steel cover not glass..
  3. i know a guy has some of those brand new ( 5 years old or so Scoebel aluminum heads, they are the only way to go.. new clean light and correct...and after chrome and such, prob about same expense....they go for a couple grand.. i've got some iron heads i ground smooth and painted aluminum, they looked ok.
  4. the carbs are rare...and most often replaced with standard design..handle / knob is a badge of pride... the few that really know will be impressed.. thanks for sharing.
  5. The knob has a little handle to turn it to either auto , or manual.manual means you pull handle and operate old fashioned way.. auto means the thermostatic device will release choke as it warms.... these were found on most all 41 continentals and customs, very few survive, and its funny the judges never mention it---- this is the same device found on mopars of the era....
  6. use modern normal tubeless radials...they will clear dont waste money on silly overpriced "classic" tires..look at sizes.. https://www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc?tires=165-82r15-205-78r15
  7. Cut it , saw it what ever-- either eliminate it or get a repro----that is garbage--- the device is for winter / cold weather performance, it heats carb , mixture, carb icing etc....it literally blocks exhaust forcing it to travel up into intake chamber (which if you remove intake you will see some ports carboned up maybe even plugged........i left mine on, but removed the flapper...I drive all kinds of weather without issue.. if you eliminate it , you will need different studs to hold pipe up tight.
  8. BOLT 20225S IS REGULAR BOLT AND A NUT UNDERNEATH----LARGE NUT HOLDS MOUNT TO FRAME, AND MISSING BOLT SCREWS IN FROM UNDERNEATH, THROUGH MOUNT INTO BLOCK..CBLOCK IS THREADED--THAT HOLE IS COVERED BY WATERPUMP AND IS AN EMPTY CAVITY..HARDEST PART IS GETTING LITTLE FINGERS UNDER AND SUCH.
  9. wow Colin, Mine was rough but a roller.....

  15. Hey Soul, jump to the starter with 12 volt jumper-- cranks nice and fast ..it will fire up--keep the 12 v on the starter side of the solenoid, not the battery side..( i read in old Ford service book) The 6 volts still fires coil etc...
  16. old pic outside the Zoar Tavern..several years ago...
  17. Ran up to Ann Arbor and Milan , first nice top down day suitable for freeway speed...car did ok.. Wife likes garden stuff...first sunburn of season. We live just over the border in Sylvania, suburb of Toledo, just down the road from Whiteford and Ottawa Lake Mi. It is ideal motoring, Michigan Speedway is nestled up the road in and amongst the beautiful Irish Hills, hone to dozens of recreational lakes nice drives....
