  1. Its too bad that lincoln got such ugly paint colors when it was painted. It could have been a nice car. The same model of car sold about a year ago throught Lincoln owners club magazine. A man paid 115K for it at auction and then never used it. He ended up being unable to sell it for some time eventually taking a 70K loss on the car when it finally sold. It had been sitting (by that time) for around 5 years, but it was a much better looking car than this. Values on cars like this are tragically low right now.
  2. All, Our 54 chevy pick up is getting stuck in first gear. The shift box is worn out. I am looking for a core to send out for rebuild so that we can still use the truck. This is different from 1953 and earlier. I suppose that if anyone has a known good one or even (YEAH RIGHT) And NOS one I would certainly be interested in that as well. I think the difference for 1955-early 55 is that the arms are the same length. Let me know what you have: Travellak1@netzero.net Thanks much.
  3. I used a machine like this. It was about 8 years ago. They had a big trailer they would tow around and then it had a wand on a cable that you used on the work. It worked amazingly well. It would not hurt rubber. I did the door edges on my car and it cleaned right up to the door seals. You could point it at just about anything but your eyes. It blasted paint and rust right off leaving bare clean metal ready for paint. (Aside from whatever pitting or holes were there). It was fast and I think probably the most amazing tool I have ever used.
  4. All, I have a front license plate frame from the National automobile club. It fits 1929/1930 etc. plates. I would love to find a rear frame if anyone has one. thanks.
  5. I see a number of things in that tool roll sample that are not correct. Many items get added to the roll by owners for various reasons and you can simply take them out. I see several things that are missing as well. It looks like you have what you need to get started. The parts book may not be the correct year, but thats ok. Keep in mind that the L part numbers will only be cast on some of the spanners and the lincoln timing chain adjustment wrenches. Everything else was sourced from other manufacturers so searching for the lincoln part number for those items will not get you anywhere. Still, some years the kits were all billings spencer and none of the parts had L numbers on them. You may have to make the tire irons and the brake adjustment wrenches, they just cannot be found.
  6. Does anyone have a copy of this publication? I own a car that I believe was advertised for sale in this magazine. I would like to have a copy of it but hope that someone can confirm that it is listed before I buy a used copy. Anyone have a second to check? The car is a 1930 lincoln seven passenger type 177 Thanks.
  7. so unusual to see a Cadillac with a rear spare. Thanks again Keiser, you sure know your stuff.
  8. Yes, I gave him the picture.
  9. I have a lincoln tool that is stamped "walden worchester" maybe its the same company
  10. This says it was taken in 1928 in san jose california on the back.
  11. Any ideas what this engine is from? I am not sure if the axle is part of the same car.
  12. I inherited a bunch of photos from a car collector and these are a few. These packards were at pebble beach concourse ( i am pretty sure) in the late 50s. Do these cars still exist?
  13. seems like a good car and fair price. The visor is missing. 1,019 is a relatively high production number for various types of model L lincoln, so while there are not many in the grand scheme of things, it was a common type of lincoln, so not really that rare. Body is by Brunn. Not many pics, but seems like a good buy.
  14. I have been looking for this since you posted this question in April. I finally found it: http://www.pollockauto.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=841
  15. I dont know about other states, but California has penalties that accrue on vehicles when their registration has lapsed. Lincoln collecor Jack Passey fought to remove this penalty fee for historical vehicles because many cars that had historical significance were junked because the fees that were due on them were more than the car was worth. This most likely wont be the case in modern times as the cars have gone up in value. However, if you have a 1965 car with 800 dollars of fees due on it and its sitting in a field, you will seriously consider not saving the car (depending on what it is) but if you register it as historic, you can have those fees removed and at least the car has a fighting chance.
  16. could it be a lincoln lens? Late Model K lincoln used a light similar to packard but smaller. This would be 1937-1939 ish
  17. They could have fit many cars. The larger one is called a C6. It would fit a cadillac. I am not sure what size it is, you need to measure the outer diameter of the inner surface of the rim. Where the inner diameter of the tire mounts. It might be a 21" wheel. The smaller ones are C5 buffalos. They fit smaller cars, but I cant say what exactly. Perhaps a stutz. Lighter and smaller cars. The rims are not all that valuable without hubs and the wheel centers to mount them with. Few people need spare wheels and anyone who has a wood wheel car who wants to convert it to wire wheels cant do much with a wheel alone. If you got 100 dollars for a wheel I would consider you lucky.
  18. This is not my car, but I wish it was. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lincoln-Sport-Phaeton-/152075509676?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2368681fac:g:gOMAAOSwFEFXJtxq&item=152075509676
  19. I know its buick, just not sure exact year. Maybe can tell by bracket?
  20. They say GEMCO on the top and are made by guide.
  21. I have a pair of these tail lights. Does anyone recognize them?
