I could be wrong, but it doesnt look like you have anything connected to the output post other than the sense wire. The big post on the back is the output post. That needs to connect to something that leads to the battery.

I have an original pair of 28-29 cowl lights listed on ebay. They are pretty good but not perfect. Missing one of the special mounting bolts and a few of the screws that hold the lamp to the arm. I have one of these tail lights. The main lens is missing and the beehive lens is present, but its chipped also. You cannot see the chip when its installed. I dont know if it would be useful to you. Its the whole tail light and arm together.
