  1. I could not seem to load the video. It shows the engine running fine.I filled the vacuum tank 3 times and ran the engine for about 1/2 hr. I will install the headliner and the seats when I get back in the spring. For now, back in storage.
  2. Not sure if video will 20170822_091757.mp420170822_091757.mp4show
  3. Well I finally got the 4th tire i needed to move the car out in the open air to run the engine without getting gassed. Not being run for so long, I need to do a ring out and functual. I ran it long enough to know it will ok. If it runs like I think it should, I will put it away until spring.
  4. I thought this color would go good with the engine
  5. No, its not original, I just liked the color.
  6. In doing an engine swap in my 1925 Ajax, I found the need to remove the steering box. Not having a shop manual for the car, I was as a pilot would say, flying by the seat of my pants. In the pic one can see that the engine will not come out by the steering box.The engine I am putting in was used in a saw mill to run a cutoff saw. Complete except for the carb, which he did not know why it was not on the engine. I tore the engine down because he said it only had about 50 hrs. on a rebuild.Setting for a while pickled with Marvel oil about 15 years ago. It turned over free before I took it apart.. After removing the oil pan I could see the screen on the bottom of the oil pump should have a new one. My friend in Fl sent me some screen that I used to make some new fuel filters for his 1927 Pierce Arrow. I think the pic will tell you the rest of the story. By the way , I know you guys will love my lavish shop. Oh here are the seats I did for this car 14 years ago.
  7. I do not know how familiar you are with Pierce Arrows, this is not a light that would be on one.
  8. Steve, If you go to an Autozone parts house, they have a bearing puller they will lend you and this will solve your problem.
  9. Sweet, great looking little Hupp. I would love a Model 20 but just not enough room.. and money.
  10. The engine is for my 1926 Ajax. nzcarnerd, I think your pic gives me the correct engine paint color. Thank you
  11. Who in 1925 had his engineers design an engine with 7 main bearings , force feed lude to the mains, rods and camshaft. Charles Nash He called the new car Ajax.
  12. Bought this engine a few years ago . The guy I bought it from said it was rebuilt and used very little to run a cutoff saw in a saw mill.I pulled the pan and found no loose connecting rods. But being a mechanic on a 52 airplane I laughed when I saw how it was safety wired. 4 out of 8 were half correct. 4 were completely wrong. Now, who knows what car this engine go into? I do
  13. Hey, I am very offended, what about HUPMOBILE
  14. If you end up buying this car , I would like to tell you about a great club, The Hupmobile Club which has been going strong since 1970. We go on tours, stop for ice cream and are the friendliest people you will ever meet from all over the world. We have fun.
  15. Caroline01, I f you think the posts are cool, you would love a ride in my 36 Hupp.
  16. Ok, let me tell you about how Hupmobile used the casting # on the head as a part #. It is a very simple way to get the right part for your Hupp. If your # on the head of the car you are looking to purchase matches the # you see on my head, it is the same head. Hupp used the same head on the six cylinders for about 4 years. To answer your original question, No it is not from a 1928 Hupp.
  17. If you look at the top of the head you will see the word HUPP followed by this # 62915 . I have a good head with NO cracks. If you are interested, $150 dollars plus shipping and I will give you a head gasket with it.
  18. The guys in the Hupp club cal my 1936 Model N with Hupp Super drive the White Tornado.
  19. So , what part of the USA are you in?
  20. What you are looking at is a 1931 Hupp Model S roadster. I could not find a close up, but this is the same body.
  21. After driving about 1/2 hour to a show, the great car dies. Got it started by using the primer and got to the show. Drove it after the show same as before, died just before I got it back to the hanger. Hand pushed it into the hanger .As with many cars in my past, it sounded like the ignition coils .Contacted the Pierce Arrow society for help. They pointed me to a parts place that may have some Delco coils. No luck, went to ebay and found some that not being exactly what i needed but were 6 Volt pos ground would tell me if its the coils. Installed the coils , ran the car and about a 1/2 hour latter, it died. Now its up to the condenser. Changed out the condensers and that did the trick. I need this car running fine when I head north. Just looking at this car is one of the greatest feeling that a poor boy like me can have in his life. I drive it, and take car of it. Life is good.
  22. St, my friends 1927 Pierce Arrow model 36 is also a dual valve six. I love to drive this car.
  23. I made one for the 29 A Hupp that I was working on to sell .One of the Hupmobile Club members Dave Romani has taken up the project and is having at least 10 made. A fellow contacted me for 1 he needed so I told him to contact Dave. I have at least 2 other Hupps that may need one so I am going to call Dave and get on the list .Thanks for asking. Chuck Moore
