  1. Thanks. Now I know what that means. Now I just have to remember it! πŸ˜‰
  2. Center High Mounted Stoplight. I think. My Gran Sport has SCO paint!
  3. Brad Conley That particular car is a pile of poo....even the former owner said so! Drives great but the rust issues are beyond belief. I just noticed this post and see it has been well discussed and even a mention was made about the thread on the V8 board. So I will just refresh everyones memory and tell the story to those who haven't read the thread on V8; That was my old car. I owned it for 17 years. (Bought in 2003) It was my first Gran Sport. I owned Six '73 Gran Sports at one point after buying the Black car. I sold it to make room for some different cars. At the time I sold it I had a deal on another 73 4 speed that was beautiful, but I passed at the last minute as it was time for something different. I ended up keeping my best three which are listed in my signature. I also sold one of my two '73 race cars (Yellow) to a friend and parted out the other one. (The black car is a Sloan documented real Stage1 4 speed. It was originally Gold. I bought it already painted black and with the Black dyed interior. As Roberta said all 1973 Bucket seat cars had white interiors and no other choices. Now the details of the car when I sold it: All the interior plastic pieces had been covered in vinyl due to holes, chalking and cracked broken pieces, etc. my son in law did the interior pieces and the vinyl top as his daily job is as an interior and convertible top craftsman. It is totally non matching numbers. It has serious rust issues. The chassis is covered with roofing tar as is the trunk and inner wheel wells. The inner wheel wells also have newspaper stuffed in them and then tar put on top to cover up the holes. I had the car repainted in 2014 by a best friend for $1000. He did a decent job. The vinyl top is new and underneath are multiple Fist size and larger holes patched with Bondo and Fiberglass. There was rust in the rear quarters and around the rear window and rear side windows, all patched with bondo. After the recent paint job to make the car look good again (Paint got badly faded over the years, even though it was stored over the winters) After a few years the cracks were starting to show again around the rear side windows. It was time to sell before it got worse. I did not want to worry about having to fix the car up again after doing so multiple times over the years. The drivers side floor is soft and needs to be patched. It does have a Scotty G. 462 motor and a Supercase M-21 trans. The car is a very good driver and rarely gave me any mechanical trouble. I sold it to a Buick friend who knew all about the car since I originally bought it. He then traded the car after two years to get back another friends 71 Skylark 4 speed car from another Buick guy who wanted the black car as a trade. He is the one who sold it at Mecum a little under 2 years later after having a hard time selling it privately. He even tried to sell it at MCACN in 2018 with no takers at his price. The current owner who bought the car at Mecum knew all of the issues as I told him all about the car on a few Buick forums and telephone conversations. He loved the car and bought it anyway with all the problems. He says he loves it and I still speak to him occasionally. Believe it or not I do sometimes miss that car because it started my love affair with 1973 Gran Sports. P.S. Roberta and Brad will tell you i was lucky and the 3 '73's I still own were and are all totally rust free. The Yellow car is a Zone office ordered Stage1 Sun Coupe (1 of 45) with SCO paint, (1 of 4) car body #0092 and is heavilly optioned with Cruise control being the only option missing, and is all original. It just won a AACA Grand National Award at Gettysburg 2020. It also won Concours Gold at MCACN in 2016 with 986 points in the Sun Roof Invitational plus numerous other Awards. The Gold 4 speed won a Concours Gold with 1000 out of 1000 points and a Platinum Award for Best Buick at MCACN in 2017. It won its AACA Senior Grand National a at Gettysburg 2020. It won a Springhouse Award at the 2020 Greenbrier Concours. My Gold T Code GS455 is my Factory Appearing racer and so far its best ET is a 12.45@109.6 MPH also totally rust free and a Day Two MCACN Concours Gold Award winner in 2019. P.S. The pictures of the three '73 Gran Sports I still have are on this forum in the Favorite GS (and Gran Sport) Pictures Post.
  4. I did not put this in my other post. This is my Factory Appearing (FAST, Super Car Races, BSA; Buick Stock Appearing) '73 GS455 T code. 1 of 99 built. Best ET so far is 12.45 @ 109.6 MPH on street tires.
  5. Good for you and great photos, Ed. I love all sorts of Car Clubs also. Talking about racing, I like a roof over my head, I am a tin top guy. I raced SCCA Nationals and Regionals in Mazda's, Camaro 1LE's when they first came out (1989) and you needed a comp license to buy one. Started with Rx-7's, Rx-3's at Bridgehampton (miss that track a lot) and still get into a Miata (sold my National race wining Miata a long time ago) every now and then at Lime Rock. Also raced A Sedan Ford Mustangs. Was sponsored by BFG. That helped keep tire costs down! Been on the Board of Directors of the NYRSCCA since 1984. I have slowed down quite a bit since i got into my 60's. I do like to track my AMG GTS Edition1 occasionally, but usually just rent a Miata to keep costs down. My taste in cars is very eclectic and there is not much that I don't like. Madison Avenue Sports Car Driving and Chowder Society Member for 40 years since the Austie Clark days. Here is a photo of my AMG GTs Edition1. Photo of my Miata back in 1993 at New Hampshire International Raceway. Photo of my 1989 1LE Camaro winning the first race of the first ever National SCCA race event at New Hamphire Speedway (Notice the landscaping was not completed yet.) Also currently still like to Vintage Drag race a Stock Appearing Factory Tire (FAST) Buick. A 1973 Gran Sport of course. πŸ˜‰ That Buick is a Day2 Concours Gold Award winner at the 2019 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals (MCACN) with 974 points. The photo of the Drag car is from my good friend Martyn Schorr of Motion fame and Cars illustrated, etc. The photo was also a Face Book post and Car Guy Chronicles write up with a link to a recent Hagerty article on the Four Speed car. Look up 1973 Gran Sport on the Hagerty web site. P.S. Also love showing my AACA Grand National Award winning '73 Buicks in AACA events. Both are MCACN Concours Gold Award winners. The Gold Stage1 GS 4 speed also won a MCACN Platinum Award Best Buick with 1000 out of 1000 points in 2017 and has been nominated 2X for a AACA National Award in 2018 and 2019. The all original SCO paint Yellow Stage1 GS Sun Coupe got 986 points at MCACN in 2016 Sorry for the long boring post. I am still as enthusiastic as ever and can talk about cars, racing, etc. forever. πŸ™‚
  6. Thanks, Mark. It most definitely was an honor to be nominated. Will keep trying as attending AACA Meets has become an important and wonderful part of my life. I wouldn't trade the experiences and friends I have made for anything. Looking forward to seeing you and Marion next year. Hope you had a Merry Christmas and enjoy a healthy and Happy New Year!
  7. Same here. National nominated two years in a row (2018 and 2019) Both times did not win. Thinking back and as advice to others I think my cell phone photos didn't do the car justice and would at the least try in the future to get better photos taken if nominated again. It was a nice document to receive each time stating the car was nominated as an outstanding vehicle. (I had them framed) Was not nominated this year, but I guess being nominated three years in a row would be too much to expect. Maybe again in the future it will be? Good to hear the non winner documents are already being recieved and surely the winners letters shouldn't be far behind.
  8. I would love to have a chance to be online to purchase this car/ I would love have a chance to be online to buy/look at this car with a MOPAR expert/friend to verify everything when you have made up your mind as to what you are asking for it. If I can afford it! LOL Thanks.
  9. My mostly all original 1973 Buick Gran Sport Stage1 Sun Coupe. Photo taken at the 2020 Gettysburg Grand National where it won its First Grand National Award. 1 of 4 SCO code O (Other) paint and 1 of 45 Stage1 Sun Coupes built.
  10. Just got home an hour ago. What a great show. Perfect weather and a great turnout of beautiful cars and people. Thanks to all in the AACA Staff and Paula Ruby and the Gettysburg Region and all who helped Judging and entrants also. What a great way to end the year! I only had the chance to take about 100 photos and will put them up on the FaceBook AACA page later today if anyone is interested. Thanks again to all in the AACA!!!!!!
  11. Thanks for sharing this Mark. See you and Marion Friday I hope. Also a big thank you to all AACA National and Regional staff, members, attendees, etc for making this happen. It is an honor and a privilege to be able to attend at this facility again. Everyone should also realize the extent of the effort required to make this event happen. There is no other organization in the USA and possibly the world that has made the effort and the logistics to make an event of this size happen in these trying times in the show car world. The rules seem simple enough and hopefully will be taken seriously by all attending. The Grand National held at this venue was a success thanks to all that attended and followed the rules for the most part. As an individual with pre existing conditions I am feeling comfortable attending and will make sure to be diligent in doing my part to stay safe myself and help in any way I can to also make everyone else feel safe. I expect the same in return. Putting out this flyer only makes me feel and I am sure many others more comfortable in attending. See you all Friday. I will be coming early Friday to have the opportunity to see the Race car and Motorcycle checks. To say I am looking forward to seeing old and new friends is an understatement Sorry for the long post. THANK YOU AACA!!
  12. Got ,my confirmation by calling the office. A few days later the confirmation came in the mail also. Looking forward to the Meet. So far the weather seems like it will be great.
  13. Great Thread and great posts. Thanks to all who have posted. I tried to buy the Schuster Book on Amazon. I did find a copy for a reasonable price, but after putting it my cart and continuing to browse by the time I went to complete the purchase it was already sold. I am thinking it might have gone to someone reading this very thread also. All the other available were too costly to consider. I did end up with the two books in the attached photo and I look forward to reading them when I finish reading some other automotive books that I bought first.
  14. I miss going to Hershey and seeing all the corral cars and vendors. Next year will be bigger and better. Looking forward to the Gettysburg National Meet.
  15. We will be taking the Harvest Gold Four Speed to the Greenbrier. We will also be taking it to Hershey. Looking forward to Hershey also and seeing and talking with both of you there. Take care and stay safe!
  16. Thanks, Mark. Just called the office and a GNM plaque will be included in my registration folder at Hershey. Looking forward to seeing you and Marion there. Stay safe and take care. I am also headed out to the Greenbrier Concours this weekend and if you happen to be there will see you then.
  17. I know we were supposed to go somewhere either in the wyndham hotel or on the show field to pickup the plaques, but I also totally forgot about it. Hopefully there are some left for those of us who forgot.
  18. Thank you. Very interesting and informative and enjoyable.
  19. Thanks again to each and everyone of you involved in puting this show on from Board members to the Judges and participants. It was an incredible feat and seemed to go flawlessly. Everyone I spoke to had nothing but good things to say and were extremelyly happy to be there. My class (36F) had more cars than most Meets I have attended. The Buicks came out in force in many classes and we had 7 of them in my class. I am not great at posting small MB pictures so here are two photos of six of the Gran Sports together at the end of the show in class 36F as one had already left to load up. Thanks again to all of you it was a great feeling to get on the road again to a Meet. P.S. My results were everything I could hope for as my 1973 mostly original Yellow Stage1 Suncoupe surprised me again by going further than I thought possible winning a First Grand National. My 1973 Harvest Gold Stage1 4 Speed also won its Senior Grand National. To say I was happy with the results is an understatement! Looking forward to Hershey and seeing some of you at the Greenbrier Concours with the Gold car. You all deserve a round of thanks and applause for a job very well done. Will post what pictures I got a chance to take on the AACA FaceBook page.
  20. Leaving tomorrow at 10AM with my Yellow '73 Gran Sport and the Gold '73 Gran Sport will be leaving with my best friend and mechanic after work tomorrow. Busy week with lots of last minute car preparations. Can't wait for this show. Will be a welcome sight to see coming back to Gettysburg after doing the Founders Tour there in '17 and the National Meet in '18.
  21. Hi Mark. Hope all is well. Say hi to Marion for me. I do not recall the name of the woman I spoke to at the reservation desk. She did say that it was on record and they were waiting for the block of rooms to open. She also said she woud call back and confirm the change when the room rate became available. I will be bringing the Gold 1973 Stage1 4 Speed to Hershey. I hope to bring both the Yellow and Gold cars to the Grand National. The yellow car going for its First and the Gold car going for its Senior. Looking forward to seeing you both at the 2 events. Stay safe, Philip
  22. Thanks, Steve. I just called and they will call me back to adjust my confirmed reservation as soon as the block of rooms opens. My room just went down for 2 nights at over $700 to the $199 per night. A nice savings. My deposit is almost enough now to cover both nights. πŸ™‚ Thanks again.
