  1. Hopefully the owner will take good care of it and won't beat the crap out of it like a couple of crazy women did to a similar T-Bird in a certain movie....
  2. There were a lot of cool cars on that show including Ward's '58 Edsel wagon....
  3. I remember that Lumpy had a beat up hot rod the last year of the show. Any idea what kind it was-a Ford maybe?
  4. Yes there is (but this is just between us). I have a FB account under the name Clarence Rutherford so I can play a game called Words With Friends. Older people who watched a lot of TV as kids (most of us) will probably remember who Clarence is. As long as you use a valid email address you should be able to open an account there....
  5. $3.35 for a gallon of gas? It's only $2.89 here. Nice T-Bird by the way....
  6. I ordered the gauge pictured above in post #16 and will let you guys know how the installation goes one way or the other. Thanks again for the advice, comments and kind words regarding the Chevelle....
  7. Here's another weird fatality accident photo from the last page of a car magazine from the '50s. (I don't remember which one.) The photo speaks for itself and is meant to remind their readers not to race, drink and drive, etc. I don't think it's staged but it is pretty hard to believe that the driver could have ended up where he did....
  8. How about something like this? It doesn't say what else is in the box besides the gauge but it's a Stewart-Warner and it's mechanical. It's on eBay for $45 including shipping. If you don't like this one then which one would you recommend? Thanks.... https://www.ebay.com/itm/Stewart-Warner-82326-60-Water-Temp-Gauge-/123097788521?_trksid=p2349526.m4383.l4275.c10
  9. It doesn't have a tach. Like I said in my first post, all I want is a temperature gauge. I don't want a digital gauge on the A pillar. I would like to mount a sweep gauge at the far end of the console where most people can't see it. Thanks to you and the others for the comments and kind words....
  10. I like the poverty caps with the wheels painted the same color as the body but I would ditch the bias ply tires for a set of Goodrich Radial TA tires because it would drive a LOT better with radials....
  11. I have the idiot lights unfortunately. Please see my previous post....
  12. The only gauge that came with the car was the gas gauge unless you count the speedometer and odometer. The other gauges were an option package which didn't come on the car as per the build sheet. I looked at some videos but couldn't find one for installing an aftermarket temp gauge in a '70 Chevelle with a big block. I'm going to go back to YouTube tomorrow and keep looking. Thanks for the kind words and here's what the rest of the car looks like....
  13. I bought this car last November and drove it occasionally the last few months when the roads were clear and the weather was cool but now that it's warmed up I decided that it needs a temperature gauge. I drove it for two hours today in 90 degree heat and had no idea how hot the engine was. I looked at some videos on YouTube and they mentioned both electrical and mechanical gauges. What's the difference and which one should I use? I've never installed one before but I thought I would try to do it myself before looking for someone else to do it. I don't need a battery or oil gauge-just the temperature one. Thanks in advance for any comments and advice...
  14. I've sold cars through both Craigslist and Hemmings (I don't have a FB account) and found that you'll get a higher caliber of potential buyer through Hemmings than through Craigslist. Of course CL is free so you can't complain if you get stupid questions or lowball offers and Hemmings charges $99 but for that you usually get more intelligent questions plus Hemmings reaches people all over the world whereas CL only reaches people in your local area. If you're not in a big hurry put them on CL for a week or two and if they don't sell then use Hemmings and make sure you put a detailed description of the car with lots of pictures instead of one pic and "call for more info" and no description. Good luck....
  15. In my senior year of high school a rich kid in my class showed up one day in a Cranberry Red 1970 Chevelle SS396 with a black vinyl top. That was almost 50 years ago. Last November I finally talked my wife into letting me buy a fully restored one. I don't really care if people call it a classic, an antique, a collector car or an old muscle car. All I know is that it's the nicest old car I've ever owned and I really enjoy driving it and taking it to car shows and cruises....
  16. I went to a cruise this morning at a local restaurant. They charge $5 admission which goes to help find a cure for Parkinson's Disease so I have no problem with that. The main reason I don't go to real car shows with judging and trophies is because they usually last 4-6 hours (or longer) and that's too long for me....
  17. Throw those wheels and tires in the trash and put the original wheels back on with a nice set of radials with a narrow whitewall like they had back in the '80s. Then fix the suspension because it sits pretty low. Then scrape that tint off the windows. Hopefully you didn't do anything to the original radio. If you did then take all that crap back out and put the original radio with cassette player back in. If you cut holes in it for speakers and/or amps that will obviously hurt the value of the car. Then post more pics to include the interior, engine, trunk, etc....
  18. Or there's probably a reserve on it similar to an auction on eBay. They're not going to sell it for $100....
  19. That's cool that she'll do that. My wife would rather stay home with our 3 dogs and 3 cats than go anywhere in an old car with me. Nice Plymouth by the way....
  20. Didn't they make some RHD vehicles for the US Postal Service? I know I've seen one or two of them around here....
  21. It would be a lot easier to identify if you would post a picture of it....
