1940_Buick
In with a bunch of Model T parts I recently bought was this transmission. It was said to be from a late teens to early 1920’s Dodge Brothers. Can anyone identify it?
JayG
Definitely Dodge. Going out on a limb here to say 1921 based on the number on the side of the case. I have a later one with the same shifter but mine has the speedo drive in the top. Yours doesn't.
Bob Scafani
used in 1922-23, will fit 1917-1923.
1940_Buick
Thanks guys! Now just have to find it a new owner. While a Dodge Brothers touring is on my "someday list" I don't have room to keep everything. JACK M
Maybe the answer is to replace yours with this one since Bob says it will fit.I would think that 40_Buick could take a look inside since he want to find a new home for it anyway. dwollam
Bob, what denotes it being 22-23? How is it different than 20 and earlier? Dave
Tom V.
Care to sell it? I’m interested. I need at the least the speedometer drive gear.
RAH
Guys, With the lever for compound clutch it is after '19 and since it does not have 'lock in neutral' it should be from '19 to '23. The internal gears should be interchangeable from around '16 - '17 to at least '23. With some slight variations of placement of and direction of the speedometer drive gear. Tom, since this post is almost 5 years old, you may want to PM the original poster 1940_Buick directly. Otherwise he may never see your request. Good luck. I hope he still has it. Dave Hi Dave, the 22-23 has roller bearings on the cluster gear, there is a bulge on the idler mount to accommodate the larger gears? The shifting shaft detents are horizontal instead of vertical, the speedo gear drive is reversed and a different ratio. This transmission is unusual in that it doesn't appear to have a speedo drive. I did not notice the original query was that old. Bob, Isn't the speedo drive behind hat cardboard tag?

T VanOss
I am looking for the speedometer drive gear assembly for my 1920 DB Touring. And a inner cable too if you should have one.

It looks like the boss is there but not drilled for the speedo drive.
Tom V.
There were 2 similar but different speedometer gear assemblies. One stood higher out of the transmission than the other and the gear had a lower helix to it.
