In the Wichita Kansas area it went from 2.66 last week to 2.89 early this week and was that way yesterday morning. Late last evening it went to 2.99. Hey .33 cents in less than one week, come on now who are they kidding. We are just the pawns in the oil idustries game because there is no shortage of crude oil now and for some time to come. Problem is the demand isn't going down because of the high price, not withstanding the blend change, and if the demand doesn't come down the oil barons have no reason to lower the price.

If only we could get the majority of Americans to not buy gas for maybe two days each week we could put a scare into the oil companies philosophy and get the convenience store chains to really raise a stink with their distributors. Because we all know that convenience stores do not make profit from selling gas, it comes from going into the store and impulse buy things. Domino effect, don't buy gas two days a week, convenience store looses business those days, profits drop for store chains, business complaints increase, oil companies get message. Oil does not follow the normal economic rule of, if demand is high the price comes down. Conversely if the demand goes down the price goes up, this is basic Econ 101. But the oil cartel doesn't follow that philosophy because they know they have a product the world cannot operate without, legal blackmail is what is is. I'm a fervant believer that if the auto makers were forced to bring out more efficient vehicles, faster than what Congress imposes, that the oil industry will feel the hurt enough to look more to investing in alternative energy sources. Until that happens they won't change, too much money to be made off us slaves. That doesn't mean you can't keep a gas guzzler in your garage for whatever reason you still keep it (collector car, nostalgia), just don't make it your daily vehicle. Just my personal opinion, if you can't tell I'm getting fed up with the government, our our elected officials, for just paying attention to the lobbys and big business interests and not to the real American citizens that put them there. I think that most oil company shareholders would not mind a tiny bit lower dividend to bring down the price at the pumps, heck they buy the gas too. But the root of all evil, well follow the money.

Please forgive me for this tirade, I've just have had it with the oil companies.

Nashville gas is running at about $2.82 for the low and $2.89 to $2.92 for Exxon, BP and looks to be going up to over $3.00 here shortly. I use about 15 gallons a day in my business. So guess I'm in for a long summer. Mike

the thing about most american people is that they belive wheatever they are told. just like the subway jarred diet "its got less than 6 grams of fat!! that will make you skinny!" when in actuality, its the calories, carbohydrates, and many other factors ssuch as your metabolism. but they (the american people) belive it, and subway is making a fortune off these people. the same thing applies with politics. its not that the people should fear the government, because we ARE the government, its the government that should fear the people. we have the power to remove anyone, and i mean anyone from any political power. we could impeach bush right now, if we had enough people behind us. but people voted for him, and people dont understand the [political] system. They [ politicians] have thier own agenda, and can be bought for pennies on the dollar, and i think that having a day without buying gas is what we, as average american citizens need to do to get our point across. Americans are car people, and the world doesnt seem to understand that we cant do things like europe, because they dont understand how small of a place it is compared to the americas. in america, we cant have a continental subway system, its too far, too expensive, and nobody would use it. they think that "well, everybody in europe walks everywhere" and while that is true, it most likely wont work in small places, that are noe NYC, and i hate that people think this way. if you dont understand any of that, i do want to make my point clear PEOPLE ARE STUPID, YOU, ME, EVERYBODY and we need to put a stop to it. also, the child left behind act thing VIOLATES the Constitution. Yes, it does, and it has caused more problems than it has solved. It says that the federal government cannot control statewide education, and cannot iterfere with it at all, and i was really surprised when we found out that congress enacted this. it seems today the even though the 3 branches of government are equal in power, but the supreme court has gained more power, and the justices have been bought and paid for [at least some of them] I am tired of the poor people, in the school system, have all the new computers, books, buildings, and all that other stuff, in which they dont want to learn, they just want to sell thier drugs, have illegitimate children, and pop some caps in some asses, while the good schools, like mine, have books where bush snr. is the newest president, and are falling apart, we have few working computers, and the building is trash, and WE have the high test scores. Why no remward those that want to reward themselve, because they are smart, and they work hard, while the lazy, poor kids [no offense, im not rich, but i mean more of the inner city kids/people] with low test scores and poor attendance, get all the new stuff, the funding. messed up isnt it? did you know that there are 370some bilionaires in america, and more than 40million people living below the poverty line? wake up, this is the third world.

thanks for listening/reading my rant. i hope you gained something.

Wow! and you are only 17. Wait until you are 50. It looks worse from there. But to brighten your day I went to the local u-pick salvage yard and got 1 ea light and wiper pods. They work, just don't light. Yours if you want them. Also picked up that thing on top of the heater blower fan,an instrument cluster, an air filter box[mine was broke], and from a Riveria, the trim panels for in the dash[the previous owner hacked up the cassette surround and console].The shifter plate is good. They are burled wood looking.I have not decided if I like them, but installed them for the spring fling tomorrow. Let everyone tell me what they think!

See what you've started Tammy. Gas in the Seattle Tacoma area is $3.45 for Regular. I did find a discount "Union 76" at $3.36. I think it's all those Microsoft millionairs running the price up. Sorry, That sounded like a young Tommy statement.

Off road Diesel is $2.78

I just bought a weeks worth, 2567 gallons.

$7132.26

Although that seem like a lot. It seems like a bargain when you look at the amount of material we move in a week.

Cheap at twice the price but I sure hate to pay it.

Friday I was in the Chicago area and the cheapest I saw there was $ 3.39 and some places it was $ 3.79 for regular.

Jon,

Again I went very close to your home as I went up US 20 through Hanover Park. I had your package right next to me on the seat and wanted to deliver it personally but time was getting late for me to go and pick up a parts car. I ended up mailing it from Beaver Dam WI on Saturday.

Glad you attended the "Innaugural Reatta Retreat" this weekend, Tammy!

On Sunday, I had to stop for fuel before going to breakfast with 63Viking, his bride, and Tomt. At "Brass Ball Corner" the price was $3.25 for regular unleaded. I don't even want to know how much Sunoco racing fuel was at Nanomekanik's dragstrip!

Anyone interested in building an "Electric Reatta"? I've seen where, (in Seattle), there's a Fiat Spider and an MGB converted to electric power, and they get free parking with free chargers in downtown Seattle! Definately something to check into, when atending the BCA Nats there this year.

Maybe we could put some heads together, (Ryan, 2seater, etc.) to get a new setup, including prom and injectors to make Reattae run well on E-85 fuels, with a software switch for standard fuels as well. Something I've been tossing around the brain case for awhile, yet not ready to tackle, with the shop full of other "Projects" at the time.
