Peter J.Heizmann
A group of 9 Divco Milk Truck hobbyists spent considerable time arranging a "Parade" onto the Hershey show field to include period uniforms worn by the participants. They spent an enormous amount of time and effort in orchestrating this event for the sole enjoyment of everyone at the Fall Hershey Meet.Any photos, or, access to photos, would be greatly appreciated. Please respond on this thread and we will assist.Regards and thank you in advance,Peter J...
John_S_in_Penna
I saw those Divco trucks on the show field and during their impromptu parade as they left. However, I didn't get any pictures. It was a great sight--one of those things you see only at Hershey. Interesting how they could be operated standing up, or, on some of them, with controls from the running board!Hope someone has some pictures. Restorer32
Amongst the crowd of Divcos was a truly rare milk truck, the 1936 Thorne Gas Electric. This was a one of a kind demonstrator built by Thorne shortly before they closed. It has a 4 cylinder Hercules industrial engine turning a 70 volt generator which in turn powers a motor coupled to the drive wheels. No clutch of any kind. Restored and shown by the original owners, Rutters Dairy from York, PA. It was restored, with Herculean effort, after being retrieved from a farmers field where it was being used as a chicken coop. Or should that be chicken "coupe"? An interesting sidelight...the fellow who restored the truck used it as his dating wheels as a young man. And I thought I had it tough driving a 4 door Corvair automatic!

Guest antiqmg
Hi everyone. I was standing behind Giant Center taking pictures of the cars as they drove to the show field when the 'parade' drove by. I have what I think are 11 good pictures of them and I am willing to share. It was an excellent presentation of an era gone by. I am new at this forum and not sure how I should make the pictures available. They are about 1 MB each, so posting here causes a problem. I am sure someone will advise me, especially if they want the pictures. Thanks to Susan for letting me know someone needed the pictures.

Shop Rat
I see you found your way to the forum while we were out at the movies. Folks, this is our friend that has come to Hershey with us for something like nine years. He is a great guy and has been a friend for twenty-six years. His late mother-in-law (her name is on my posts, Jean Allinder) worked in Admin. at the national shows for many years. John_S_in_Penna
I noticed that the Parmelee Dairy truck (pictured above) had original milk bottles and milk bottle caps of that dairy for a very thorough display! Maybe some of the others did too.I hope the "milk" inside those bottles wasn't NOS, though ! Guest imported_CarFreak
I have a video clip of the Divcos driving down the road that I am trying to upload to YouTube. First I had to register and for some reason it won't verify my email. As soon as I figure it out I will post the link.

Bob Giles
Being a member of the AACA brought us togather so we could have a parade. Next year, Peter J will probably have a sports car ralley on Rt. 39.
