1938 Oldsmobile L-38 convertible - 35k - Ottawa, Ontario - SOLD

Recommended Posts

Had ot look up this model, as I've never heard of it at all. Guess Old's went by a letter and then year afterwards? Wish they had included some photos of at least the engine and interior, because you can't tell if it's something you can drive home, or have to sink another 30k into. Couldn't confirm the production total, and it looks like it's primer only?

All original 1938 Oldsmobile L38 straight eight rumble seat convertible. This car runs and drives and is registered in Ontario. New tires, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, brake shoes and lines; there is also new ignition parts and a new correct size battery. This car is very rare 1 of just over 400 built. Sharp car.

Glamour shots in front of a Beverly Hills mansion is too much to ask for, but the seller could've at least backed it off the trailer.

I don't think these go for the money Buick Centurys do, but for $35K Canadian, it'd be worth a hard look.

People get excited about 1962 Chrysler instruments, because they haven’t seen an Oldsmobile.

Remarkably mediocre color, plus a grille style that belongs on a tractor. What was Olds thinking in '38?

The eight cylinder wasn't too attractive, maybe the six was more palatable, though it looks rather agricultural as well.

I’d say that the 37-41 Oldsmobiles had the generally good GM family styling, but marred by overly busy fronts, often with to many textures and directions

An excellent assessment.

It looks like they payed attention to the 37 Pontiac flimsy grill and made it simple and heavy.
