1967 Saab wagon, not mine.

Recommended Posts

Back in the late sixties we had one of the sedans like this traded into our Toyota dealership. I just couldn't cozy up to it. It smoked and made funny noises. They weren't very big either. Now I'm thinking it would be kind of neat to own one.

By '67 they had a gizmo that injected a little oil into the gas as you drove and smoke was greatly reduced. The earlier cars needed the oil to be mixed with the gas at fill-up, which made them dual purpose: transportation and Mosquito abatement.

They don't call those engines a two-smoke for nothing.

Also known as "Corn poppers" (idle sound)

I absolutely loved the sound of a two stroke dirt bike.

Races always sounded like a bunch of angry bees going crazy.

Sadly, everything is a 4 stroke today.

Well, At least they sound fast.

I remember my father saying "the two stroke is like shearing a pig...there's a lot of noise, but not much else!"
