I think it's rather cheeky of the seller to note that "additional parts that can be included at the buyers discretion."

So, he has extra parts for the car, but they will cost you more?

I was thinking the same thing. Especially since it's not like this is an easy resto.

I have two Packard archeology questions for the Packard experts as these ads look like a risky assemblage of body parts....Obviously it would take a trip to inspect but:

1) does the Packard anti-theft number on the firewall have a correspondence to body style (in otherwords is there a current cross reference list to body type still available to check)? On the 745 the cowl looks like it would have stanchions for an open car but the rear is a closed coupe, right?

2) what is the original treatment of the rear inside fender liner to body on the coupe? I see the original welds on the top outer surface but no lead. I can't imagine all the lead came out but welting shouldn't go there....or did it?

Rare stuff.

Rolling 745 chassis, Roadster/Phaeton cowl, 745 hood, 1930 Super 8 engine without broken legs

Wouldn't you give this guy a call?

Sold off my 1930 Packard stuff a while ago. Would have been all over this add before I gave up the chase for parts like these.

You got to wonder if a person can let parts this rare sit outside wouldn't you want to know what's in the barn? Cheeky or not, just sayin.

pic 14 and 15.......the arc welded body parts .......im certain this car and the other 30 listed here came from a place in canada ......and maybe few others.......a junk yard where the guy ....who had nearly a 100 packards would cut and chop and mock up ,arc weld various body parts to make a heep look more complete to sell ..........he loved to slice and cut any car and it made no sense as he had so many that were valuable as is ......he would even cut panels from another brand to make a 4 door sedan appear to be a roadster .....this rear section may not even be all packard panel pieces.......and he would sell quite a few to the US .....back in the day with just small black n white photo ad......pre internet days.......the other 1930 i am near positive came from the place i meantion as the guy brushed with white paint on most of the cars exactly the way the other car shows '1930 packard'......
