Hubert_25-25
Chassis paint is Satin black. Not gloss, not flat. Bill Hirsch does make a good chassis black. 3
Buick35
Thanks, underside of fenders too?
kgreen
The front fenders use satin black on all surfaces except the exterior and the top lip that faces bottom of the hood. That includes all the inner fender areas plus the mud shields. The rear fenders as well, but the outward face of the body that is covered by the fenders is body color.
Robert Engle
I believe most of the fenders even up to 1932 were did painted and then the outer surfaces were polished. Bob Engle
JoelsBuicks
I use SPI (Southern Polyurethane Inc) black epoxy primer atop a blasted surface. It has a satin/semigloss finish and is almost bulletproof when fully cured. 80 grit DA also works good for metal prep, avoid acid etch/rust converters per SPI guidance. I have never used anything that sticks and stays like this stuff. It can be temperamental for novice painters.
