Matt Harwood
If I wanted a hearse, that's one I'd want.
AdamInNH
That settles it, I am going into business. So much better than a limo and no one to complain about the service. ⚰️ 1
Twisted Shifter
At first I thought, "Gee...no radio." Then I thought, "With all that space, you could install one hell of a sound system!"

neil morse
What a beauty! I'm very surprised that it has a manual transmission.

When you see Cadillac (or Packard) on a professional car you are inclined to think "luxury" but in reality to understand them, you need to think "Business Car". Kinda like a panel truck, these are solely for making money. Yes, nice car.
Hudsy Wudsy
I've never given it much thought before this, but I think that, on balance, I'd prefer a Hydramatic, though I'm not sure why. Maybe clutch life?
suchan
Manual transmission was still standard equipment for models 61 and 75 in 1950. Maybe the hearse was based on a 75 chassis? No doubt there were buyers in 1950 that assumed a manual would outlast an automatic, and as has been noted this was bought to make money. My dad bought his last car in 1985, didn't trust automatics and never owned a car with anything but a stick.
