6T-FinSeeker
For sale on Craigslist: 1955 Packard Patrician 4-Door Sedan in Eugene, OR - $10,000 - Call or text: 631 972 56 three five Link: https://eugene.craigslist.org/cto/d/eugene-1955-packard-patrician/7272187249.html Seller's Description: 1955 Packard Patrician 4-Door Sedan VIN: 55821939 condition: good cylinders: 8 cylinders transmission: automatic Here we have a 1955 Packard Patrician for sale. There are a lot of fun and interesting features this car has, especially for it's time. I bet you can't think of another car from '55 that has power windows, I know I sure can't. It also has a torsion level suspension system. Do ya know what that is? Because I sure didn't until I looked it up. If you want to know more about the suspension I definitely recommend letting the man in denim tell you here https://www.thedrive.com/news/36391/let-jay-leno-tell-you-why-packard-made-the-worlds-best-suspension-in-1955. The car is in very good shape especially considering it's age. Interior is all original, paint was redone a number of years ago to the factory colors, nearly the entire brake system has been worked on. This thing is ready to cruise all the way to the gas station and beyond! I take it out every weekend and it hasn't given me any trouble and gets all the looks (and ladies) you could want. You can almost guarantee you will be the only one with a Packard anywhere you go!The Good: Reliability Supportive Community Style Power steering Power windows Room for 6 (not including trunk) Recent brake work Runs & Drives with ease The Bad: The power steering has a very slight leak, nothing too crazy but definitely worth keeping an eye on Speedometer broke, like the needle itself Speedometer cable needs lubrication Radio doesn't work, may just need to be properly hooked up The Ugly: Very MINOR rust spots. It's mostly paint bubbling (Close-ups pictured here: https://imgur.com/a/vfBtfiA ) Interior could be in better shape but it's definitely not bad considering it is original Call or text any time and I will get back to you when I can. JamesR
The car is very striking, especially for something in that price range. Not perfect, but pretty presentable from what I see. However, the seller says, "I bet you can't think of another car from '55 that has power windows, I know I sure can't. " You could get power windows and seats in a lowly Ford a year earlier in '54...and maybe even earlier than that. I'm sure Lincolns and Cadillacs had that option back then, and probably several other American makes.
bryankazmer
Power windows were widely available in 1955. Packard had power windows in 1940. Seller seems to assume everyone is as ignorant as he. The torsion-levelling suspension was a Packard exclusive. That is a nice original interior.
B Jake Moran
Just seller hyperbole. This is a favorite color of mine. If an accepted offer of $9000 was taken, I think its s good buy.

Jake, it may be a 100% increase in price. The original asking price was $10,000, but the flipper may have negotiated down, perhaps to $8000 or $9000. I think my rule often applies: Dealer Price /2 = Realistic Price

Figure on a speedo rebuild in addition to replacing the needle. When the unit on my LaSalle went bad, it oscillated so wildly the needle flew off. B Jake Moran
I don't get it. I wonder if anyone has viewed the car. We are seeing decent photos of a nice original car that - yes - will have some scratches and tired paint but overall represents a fun car to enjoy the hobby with. Yet it remains unsold.
John_S_in_Penna
Jake, I remember seeing something in the original pictures that made me pause: An area of sheet metal where the bodywork looked very dull and uneven. Look at the left front fender in the picture below. That alone would be reason for people to pass on the car or discount it substantially: On 2/4/2021 at 8:57 PM, 6T-FinSeeker said:
B Jake Moran
Yes I saw that John, yet other photos show it being "decent." But you probably are correct.
