Our Buicks
Is this car the real deal?....I can't find another one that looks like this one.... Did somebody chop this up? https://www.ebay.com/itm/1935-Other-Makes-653-Convertible-Sedan/224092712095?hash=item342cf76c9f%3Ag%3AEoYAAOSwZSxfGyZj&LH_ItemCondition=2000%7C2500%7C3000%7C4000%7C5000%7C6000%7C7000 Thanks, Mike
alsancle
It started as a real Auburn and then somewhere along the line horrible things were done to the car. I would say there is still about 50% Auburn under there. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1935-Other-Makes-653-Convertible-Sedan/224092712095
auburnseeker
It looks like it was an original Auburn. Someone put a Cadillac engine in it and customized the lower bodies in the 50's from the looks of it. Being it was a 6 cylinder car They are reaching with the price. Matt had a much more original one i9n better shape for less money a few years ago.

John_Mereness
Oh, my ! And NOT a deal in Auburn circles at all (unless it floats your boat as to what it is in rat rod circles). We are looking at some sort of 50's to 60's rat rod with maybe a 70's or .. repaint or .... The fenders are heavily altered, splash aprons entirely changed, and runningboards deleted. The engine is a Cadillac Flathead - thinking a factory rebuild given tag on bell housing or it is military surplus . Wheels are incorrect, though suspension is correct and it does have a Columbia. Someone has put a Graham steering wheel on it, but steering is correct otherwise. The body itself "appears" very decent, excepting some extra holes in the cowl. The hood and grill shell are fine too (hood has an extra hole in side though). The dash is a structural support for car and has been hacked on at the radio opening in center (ie you cannot take it off to correct the damage - you have to weld it in car). Left dash panel is fine other than chrome is all painted over and Right has had a bunch of extra holes put into it. The windshield center ash tray holder for the windshield frame is a bear to find. Missing an expensive radiator ornament too and a bunch of other trim. The top mechanism seems missing - that is 5K plus on a lucky day. headlamp lenses are not too hard to find, but a couple days of phone calls nevertheless. Door handles on exterior ???? The 1932-1933 Salon Series Bumpers on it are worth considerably more though than the proper 35/36 6 cylinder Bumpers. Nice Appleton Fog lights, but .... auburnseeker
It kind of reminds me of Grease lighting for some reason.
