MODEL KIT-1937 CORD 812 S/C - VALUE?

While on tour last week, I found and bought a new unassembled kit:

Could you help me determine the value of this kit?

AMT - ERTL -

Skill Level 3

1937 CORD 812 S/C

A CLASSIC MASTERPIECE

Stock Number 8127

This kit is a 1/12 Scale (12:1)

Has over 230 parts:

460piece supercherged Lycoming V-8 engine

Steerable front wheels

Roll-up - Crank-operated side windows

Opening doors

Over 16" long

I'm not sure if I should make this a project to share with my 16 year old grandson,

or to pass it along to another collector since I will likely never own the real thing myself

Thank you for any assistance

Wow, you're right. Seems like they would sell for more given the size, maybe if it was a metal kit the value would be higher?

My suggestion would be to make it into the Tom Mix car that West featured a while back, build it up and donate it to the AACA museum if they would display it. Alternatively, maybe the owner of the car would buy it from you as well.

I paid $50 for a complete kit a few years ago at Hershey (since I do own one, Marty, as you know!!) and as I walked away the guy was jumping for joy, so I'd say the $50-75 range is about right if you want to be happy....

Some great thoughts...and some memories too..

Thanks guys,

Wish I had a car like David's to go with the model.....

and for more garage space too....

Building models seems like another lost past time - Guy's post #9 reminds me of the 1/12 scale MG TC and Rolls Royce sedan(maybe it was a 20/25, or a Wraith, not sure now - I know it was a pretty unusual model, even back in the day) models I built around age 12. Could almost be it's own thread. At least I kept all the 1/43 cars.
