bepnewt
A co-worker spotted this about a mile from my house and asked me about it. What year is this, like a '75? I rarely see any of this body style, are they fairly rare these days?He says it's there in that parking lot quite a bit, so either it's for sale ( I didn't see a sign ) or they work there.-BEPNewt
sosuzguy
I'd LOVE to have one of those years! My Uncle had a red one.
CheezeMan
I think they call the 74-76 models the "forgotten years". Someone else may be able to expand upon this. Also, some call ALL the GM 73-85 cars the "forgotten years of GM performance".
rivgs
Brian,75's have vertical grille bars, 76's have an eggcrate grille. It looks to be a '76 but I can not see the grille clearly enough to tell for sure.

Dales90
Ha,Back then, I dubbed these babies "layer cake" Rivs, due to the look from the rear.My least favorite models..Any years which look more like GMs others do nothing for the Riviera.Rivs should be immediately identifiable, and share nothing with other models.just my humble opinion.Dale
RivNut
IMHO, one reason that the 74 - 76 Rivieras were/are not as popular as some of the earlier and later ones was that there was really nothing that set them apart from the other Buicks. Case in point - these pictures of a LeSabre and a Riviera. The Electra and the Regal looked similar as well.
steelman
Rivs should be immediately identifiable, and share nothing with other models.DaleAmen, Brother! That's why I like the the 50s and 60s cars. A Buick was a Buick, a Ford was a Ford and a Plymouth was still UGLY.
CTX-SLPR
Ya'll must hate the 77-78's then because it was a LeSabre...Still one of my favorite body styles though, might be because of parts availiblity and the way the body works with the LXXV paint scheme. Guest BIGRIV
I always kind of dug the two extra breaklights up by the rear window...I dont remember exactly what year had them though?
rivgs
The extra brake/turnsignal lights were from 1974 to 1976. Toronados used something simular from 1971 to 1978.
JZRIV
I always kind of dug the two extra breaklights up by the rear window...I dont remember exactly what year had them though?Yep, If I ever bought one of these, it would be because of the cool high mount brake lights! No question on ID from the rear with those.

RivNut
Are those high mount housings molded in or do they bolt on?
