Oil filter washer

The 1956 Lincoln 368 engine had a canister oil filter. Mine was changed to the 1957 spin-on filter by installing an adapter plate.

The gasket between the block and the adapter plate has failed, but I can not find one. It is 5" in diameter with an ID of 4 1/4". The original gasket appears to be 1/16" thick, but could be thicker to get better compression.

Where do I get one?

Here is a listing for General brand filter gaskets

General Fuel Oil Products - Manufacturer of high quality oil filters

These are for furnace oil filters and should be available at furnace repair shops and industrial and plumbing supply wholesalers.

Grainger's has oil filter gaskets. I did a search for neoprene gaskets and found these. The first and the fourth on the list seem to be the closest to your size.

And Please tell me ...... What is wrong with buying rubber and cutting it out yourself? I thought it was a pretty good suggestion.

I have to make all my gaskets here by hand. OK I've a man that makes the head gaskets but everything else is made by me.....

I have an US friend to send gasket supplies.

OK Understood that was the reason for my first post.

Some times things that seem simple/easy just are not.

I have the factory here in town. Sometimes I import filters from the US it's just easier.

It's a critical fit as there is 80 pounds of oil pressure at start-up. That's when it seems to leak. A perfect fitting rubber gasket would both compress and expand the gasket for a double seal. Jagged edges would void the second seal.
