MochetVelo
This might appeal to our group:Goggomobil 10liter radial-engine 360hp 9-cylinder - Car Videos on StreetFireThis guy is quite a machinist, though I doubt his Gogomobil meets current safety and pollution standards!Phil

oldcarfudd
Fantastic! Especially when he finally drives off to the strains of “Deutschland über alles”!I wonder whether that fellow could shoehorn that engine into my one-lung Cadillac. I sure would be fun to dust off Pierce-Arrows on hills. Of course, they might kick me out of 1-and 2-cylinder tours.Gil Fitzhugh, Morristown, NJ
Guest DeSoto Frank
Brings "permanent hearing loss" to a whole new level ! So, if he punches the accelerator, does the car roll-over in reaction to the torque ?" Ah, dos clever Chermans!"
Dave@Moon
Fantastic! Especially when he finally drives off to the strains of “Deutschland über alles”!This guy's car was already linked here in July in a thread on radial engines. The video was fairly new at the time. I found it and posted here. Roger (Rawja) discovered that the guy's web-site (which I never visited) was (seriously) pro-nazi, with links to several extreme right-wing German sites. There are several references to it in the comments on the streetfire.com link above. That should explain the soundtrack (which, BTW, includes a verse now banned in Germany among other objectionable ditties).
oldcarfudd
The tune is still the official German national anthem. I've always heard it referred to as Deutschland uber alles, although I just learned (from looking it up on Wikipedia after youer post) that those words are no longer used. I wasn't trying to glorify the third reich - though I have to giggle at the thought of fat bastards like Goering waving to the crowds from the back of this overpowered tin can. Guest DeSoto Frank
The melody itself is attributed to Austrian composer Franz Joseph Haydn, by the tune-name Austria and is still in most Protestant hymnals, first line: "Glorious things of Thee are spoken..."It's a shame that it got a bad rap due to its association with National Socialism. (As did much of Wagner's music, including the overture to "Rienzi".)And if anyone wants to "giggle at Goering", go to You-tube and search for the Looney Tunes "Herr meets Hare"... Bugs befuddles both Goering and Hitler... plus a surprise ending ! Edited December 26, 2009 by DeSoto Frank (see edit history)
