It looks as if the '57 Chevy fins were approximated at the rear as well. Did you happen to get a shot of the back end?

BTW, for those who don't know, this car was originally either a Triumph Herald (4 cyl.) or Vitesse (6 cyl, a.k.a. Sports 6 in the USA).

Usually customizers section (remove a section like chopping a top)horizontally along the beltline, a very difficult time consuming job. This '57 Chevy hood was narrowed to fit the Triumph Herald body. Hopefully the '57 was a four door post that had been center punched. It probably drew a lot of attention at the local drive in diner back in the day.

That's original to the Herald/Vitesse. I'll bet it made it easier to graft the front end together, although it must be a heavy lift to open it!
