Mr Earl I agree the tim63riv. there was a recall on these cars with this issue. It is the clutchs all u car do is a complete rebuild

Hello Riviera Owners I have found a custom Riviera for sale in Michigan. This car was traded in at a dealership by my house the. The lady that traded it in was the original owner and the car has a true 55,000 miles on it. I am coming the the ROA show in Hersey PA and have alot of pics i can send or share. Jack the Fatory radio for the BOSE radio in 1993 is very hard to find. I was working at the Buick dealer then and it was the last year and nobody stocked this option. The U1H and U1G radios look alike but the bose says "bose" on it and ther is no EQ there is large bass and trebble buttons. The Riviera is the only one i can think of that used this radio since the CD player out of the radio so this radio would have a cassette. I would check with specmo. They where an arm of GM that rebuilds factoy radio's and has sales and can look up a locate for one. Here is is web site link hope this helps. I have the "bose" in my 89 what a nightmare. I parted out a 85 Riviera with red cloth interior code 169 it is all in great shape not faded or burned or worn. I have the seats door panels. it all up for free just pay shipping. Dash already gone. Seats are driver’s power and pass manual w/o power recline.<O:p</O:p

no you can change it the wiring is different

It is really easy! just take off the woodgrain face plate and the spedo will come out with a few screws. You have to have small hands for reach around and unplug there is not mush room. the headlight knob will come off the shaft too.

The "roadster" package was added after market. i have only seen three in my life on 89 Riviera i have see tons of these packages on Caddy Eldo and Ford thunderbird and Continental. this was brought to us in the 70's and 80's the Lincoln Continental has the top and tire on the back from the factory. After markket shops made it for very other car the could. When i sold cars this was a was for me a a salesman to make more gross profit in the car by selling these packages.

Dave are you sure on that grand touring opt. My 89 has 16x7 grand touring wheels with the opt (not standard) Y56...... check the spuds lable in the trunk for that code......your correct on the suspension. I do know the steel wheels off 88-89 will not if 90-93 due to braking system changes (ABS).........I worked at a Buick Dealer from 1988-2000 maybe i have forgot.

The 16x7 wheel is an opt on the 89-93 Riviera. 93 is the last year and the only year they put the reatta wheel from the factory with the "R" center cap. The Riv had to have the option "Y56" to have grand touring. The grand touring style wheel came in the same style as the 15x6 opt wheel or the std wire wheel covers. If your taking wheels off an 89 and it dont have anit lock brake they will not fit on any of the 90-93 Rivs bracking system different this statement is for the 15x6 wheel. I have posted a pic of both grand touring 16x7 wheels the 93 wheel is VERY rear

Dave great info i just need to pass along some info that i have experanced working at the buick dealer. The hoods from 86-93 will fit all years but the 86-88 has differant lines and the drills are not as rounded. To a non Riviera owner would not spot this but alot of us would. Reed i have a few of these Riviera's in our yards i would be happy to check for you. I live in Buick land of Flint MI

Tony there was a guy in CA that can rebuild those for 400.00 i found a pump on a 90 Riviera that will work. 1988-1990 Riviera, Reatta are the same. the ABS pump off a 1988-1990 Eldo Siville will work too. When i priced the unit at the Buick dealer it was about 3000.00 (yickes). Hope this helps but i went thought the same thing my Riviera had 70,000 miles got it fixed and the ASB light went off and it works great
