1: I asked the original owner if they'd changed the supercharger lubricant, they hadn't. The car has 67K, is this something that needs to be done? Yes change the supercharger oil have a dealer do it. It stinks bad and is messy. Should be changed 50k 2: I'm used to turbo cars, does the s.c. need a cool down period as the turbochargers requre?No they dont require a kool down period 3: On turning off the car I can hear a metered "ting" or "tick" as the car is cooling down, this will go on for a few minutes. Is this something particular to this car? The sound seems to be coming from mid-body, not the engine compartment. Could it be the cat? (no other symptoms and it passed emissions testing).Heat shield over the Cat convter

Paul is this the color you have? If so only put on the 84's and it was special order, The dr brown was put in the Rose wood color cars

I do understand that there was a special order "chocolate brown color" the incerts would have been lighter i have no record of how many or the color codes

From the 1984-85 Ordering guide it is called Beige 974 Leather Suede. The incerts are darker then the leather nice option

I have found that all compressors leak some what!!!!!!! replace the rear shocks and that will help. If you want to stop the system from workign all together and put aftermarket shocks with a manual fill nipple jjust remove teh relay located on the Convenience center it is the small silver one Jayson Pruitt has worked with great deal and aggavation to get a compressor to not leak down. I have 3 85 Riviera's and they dont run my battery down and i let them sit for long periods of time. I think this is a great system and would hate to see it bypassed. The rear shocks have rubber gaskets in them and they can tear from a pot hole, dry rot, causing them to leak witch like Ed said they system will run when the car goes down.

I would say you have a leak in the system.............. It is not the compressor. Have the rear shocks checked. use a spray bottle with soapy water and spray the compressor and see if the leak is bad on the compressor. I had the same thing and i replaced the rear shocks and it fixed itself

I parted out a red interior 84 Riviera and someone can have the interior parts that may need replaced. just pay shipping. i have door panels blah blah........here in Michigan interiors dont dry rot

I have already replaced the throttle position sensor, EGR valve, oxygen sensor and coil pack and still dies and starts back up

My 89 has the same issue i am going to be getting into it in the spring more i have repleaced the computer already and that is not the problem. So far from what i can tell it is a grounded wire some where i will keep you posted.

I would try the other key. if it dont go away change out the computer out

Have you tried changing the Key? Does it have no power or the dash lights up and no crank?

I am parting out a 1984 Riv with dig dash i can drop the tank and sending unit and send out

Sorry guys it is easy for me to say go to the Buick Dealer up here in good old Buick land. Flint Michigan i worked at a Buick dealer for 12 years so it is easy for me to know someone and find someone. But i have heard of alot of fuel pumps doing this kind of thing before thye fail. But also Jason brings a good point up so check that as well

Dear Frustrated in Fargo I would think that the fues having nothing to do with the sunroof if they are not blown. Couple things to check. First is the sunroof factory or dealer installed? If factory drop the switch panel and check for pinched wires that may have grounded that is what i found on mine. Other thing could just be the sunroof motor. just a coincidence that it happen that way. take the sunroof switch and flip it back and forth quickly it might shut. When the motor went out in mine it just happen with no warning. Hope it helps

I have a strang thing happening with my load lever on my 85 Riv. The ELC will not work. Dont come on at all. sit on the rear bumper nothing. I put the car in storage every year for the winter take the battery out. When i put the battery back in and turn the key to start the car the load leverls turn on and run for 3-4 mins and then turn off and never come back on unless i unhook the battery for overnight. Any thoughts on where to look.

Yeah they are very hard to find. Cant get them new either.

Is the Photo eye for the twilight sent hooked up?

Can anyone help with some feedback before I tear the car down?<O:p</O:p <O:p</O:p With the radio on the pass side rear speaker will go out if I play with the front and rear balance it will come back on. The speaker sounds great when on don’t sound blown. I have checked the connection to the speaker too.

I would bet it is not the digital dash. I bet it is the cable from the trans.
