What is the build date? Could be a early 73! 1973 was the frist year for the 5mph bumper with new shock adsorber. It was my understanding that this was standard on all 73's. 73 and 74 share the same bumpers. Your car could have been in a accident and if they used a 71 or 72 could be the differeance. If i remember the red one looks correct it has been years since my boattail. Just a few thoughts

Did you look up the codes? Computer will shut the cruise off for safty! I show CODE 22 - Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) - Low Reading Also CODE 43 - Electronic Spark Timing Circuit (EST) Both would cause a sevice engine light would get it looked at before it fails

Hey everyone ran across these links on the Cadillac forum. There is a 73 boat tail on the list I know There are a lot of Riviera folks over seas maybe they can help be on the look out. Yes i would say it a sensor. There are a couple it could be Idle air control sensor. I would also recommend going to Buick Forums that site has more guys with 79-85 and 86-93 cars and Dashboard for 95-99

If any of you Reatta guys are interested i have two 89 Riviera's for sale they both have working ABS systems. I am asking 1500 for both. one has a salvage title and the other needs other work. I was going to use the salvage one for parts to fix the other one. I have to change jobs and just dont have time to fix these up and if they sit to long the ABS systems will go bad and freez. send me a private message i dont come to this thread at all or e mail me at buickrivieraman@gmail.com

Let see if anyone can help me. I have an 85 Riviera with pass side power recliner no power seat just recliner. When the recliner is pluged in it dont work no power at all no clicks nothing. It is unpluged under the seat, and i have changed the switchand still is inop. Also after it is pluged in the power locks dont work but i have a clicking at the relay under the dash and the drivers side power seat stops working and power windows. Unplug the recliner and it all comes back to working. Any thoughts on this I know there are not alot of 79-85 guys on here but maybe

i would just get another one from a bone yard. i have never had good luck taking them apart

I have two 1989 Riviera's that i want to sell both cars have a working abs system. 1) is sapphire blue/Blue leather factory sunroof 94,000 miles car runs has something wrong with it will stall after driving has a salvage title sue to the car being shot has bullet holes in the pass side. i bought it for a parts car. 2) Dimond white/red leather factoey sunroof, Y56 grand touring has 153,000 ran when parked last year both cars are good parts cars or use the blue one to fix the white one up. I am asking 1500.00 for both cars i am intested in parting any cars out

Booreatta I cant attach a pic something wrong with the system. are you part of the riv list on yahoo? I have pic to show you where the "car is leveling light" is this should let you know where it is located on all Riviera's with or without digital dash. most people disable the system and it is possible that yours is. Or i have found the relay on the convenience center under the dash goes bad. If your shocks have leaks the system will run with or without the car running and will cause the relay to blow. I have 6 Riviera's and 1 Cadlliac Eldorado Touring Coupe only 815 made in 84

The Black Frame is 31" by 22" and the pic itself is 22" by 14" it was in my office at the buick dealership i have had it since 199.1 it is a kimble number 50/100 hand signed

Yeah post pics i parted out a 85 red with a white top and have alot of the top parts

Follow the service manual as it says it is hard to do i would recommend having someone with you. Take the window off the track and have someone hold it while you drill out the rivits BE CAREFUL while drilling out the rivits you can have someone move the window up and down to gain access to all the window stoppers. If the car has bolts holding on the stoppers then the window has been replaced at some point. I have parted out 4 79-85 Riviers and this my friend is a tuffy.
