  1. Looks like a parking light housing to me.
  2. The road trips are usually rewarding in their own way.
  3. Well said Dale. To restore a car to original is like putting a puzzle together. It already been cut out. Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate that. But personally I like to put something together that isn't supposed to work. I feel that lets me exercise my brain better than just putting it back the way that it was.
  4. Thanks John, There is a Chrysler 300 guy over in Gaston that is looking as well. Sure would rather find new.
  5. 1965 Chrysler 300. Not the rocker, its above that. About two inches across the molding and has a bend in it. Need three or four clips.

  7. Must have been a show for bubble tops. I does indeed look like they changed wheel covers between shows.
  8. I got that offer as well. I believe it. Unfortunately, my apprentices have all passed on by now.
  9. I don't know much about this stuff, but my dad died this past Thanksgiving. He and his wife had recently had their wills done and they sent me and my siblings copies of it. Washington is a community property state and everything goes to the spouse. However my brother tells me that it still has to go thru probate before she can start giving stuff to us kids. The only thing I want is the piano and it has all been discussed when dad was still alive. I hope to bring it home someday. I have a will splitting everything between my four daughters as I am single. We have had the family conversation and one daughter has the last say about how it all splits up. The cars are pretty well spoken for and the ones that I consider permanent are listed in the will. They wont add up to the limits before they have to start paying inheritance taxes (we hope). I have a few cars that will have to be sold off unless someone wants one as part of their percentage. However there are always conflicts I hope my kids are savvy enough to do this without turning against each other as I have seen in other families.
  10. I had a key made for my 46 Chrysler trunk by the guy with a tiny shop on the mall parking lot. He had just taken the place over and I call it throwing him a bone for good luck. Reasonable price and it works well.
  11. Ha ! Greg, your luck is the same as mine.
  12. Maybe you could make these bushing out of poly or UHMW.
  13. I want to say yellow, but a comment from 'American Graffiti' comes to mind.
  14. Ahh the passion. Those that don't have it cant have it explained.
  15. In the recent past I have had the opportunity to make the acquaintance of a couple of VERY rich guys that are into collectable cars. They guy that I know the best sold his successful business for 65 million a few years ago. He is in his early eighties. He and another guy that I met thru him a month or so ago are the guys that have more money than they need and are having some fun in their old age doing what I have been doing all of my life but on a waayyy lesser scale. I often think that these guys are the ones that are driving the prices up as they are the guys that you see on TV spending stupid money. Neither one of them are interested in anything but perfect or near perfect cars. So they are only bidding on the best of the best. (they met at a BJ auction by the way) So, the question is are they in fact laying the foundation of what these cars are worth. I have to disagree due to the fact that they have stupid money and yes they are indeed inflating some values of collectable cars. On the other hand I expect that when they pass on there will be some deals when it comes to liquidating the estates. Its a fun hobby and there is room for everybody from the pieced together rat rod to the million dollar "purchased" cars. (maybe not fair as I know some of you restore your own, but you get the drift). With all that said, these high end guys rarely drive them so to me its a waste. It escapes me who, but someone on here suggests that "if you don't drive them you might as well collect clocks". That one sticks with me so I hope I am not plagiarizing. LOL So I was with these two guys a couple of weeks ago for several days helping with some inventorying. Its fun to hang with these guys and they never let me get my wallet out. But we always met for breakfast at McDonalds as one of them likes one of their breakfasts. Go figure. Now the evening meal was another story.
  16. Don't know how involved I would get as far as importing, but I had a Bentley once that was RHD. It bothered my passengers more than it bothered me. Made it difficult to see around a car in front if I wanted to pass.
  17. I guess I knew about the convicts being the first down there. British. But didn't know there was a celebration about that. I like to learn something once in awhile. Around here we presume everybody knows what the 4th of July is. It kinda all ties together.
  18. Yes, Happy Australia Day to you guys down under. But tell me/us. What is the celebration?
  19. Since I forwarded this to him last night I am afraid that he still claims to know more than the members of this forum. I guess I will languish in the satisfaction of knowing his ignorance. Thanks all....
