  1. To me this thread on a 1961 airport tug with a 1952 Dodge engine has had enough comments on oil specification. During it 10~15-20 what ever years at the airport Beechcraft FBO doubt it had straight 30 weight oil. It may have had aircraft engine oil. These old Mopar 6 cylinder engines are very tough. It will have a gentle life from now on
  2. Parts L & AH have threads. Download the 1942 Buick shop manual for free. All of it section by section. Or click the pdf link to pay. http://www.oldcarmanualproject.com/manuals/Buick/1942/Shop Manual/ It is very comprehensive and has information that can be used with all straight 8’s. It has more information than was included in older “Shop Manuals” before 1942
  3. Made 1948 to 1990. Are different ! (But its French) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citroën_2CV
  4. What part moves _ loose_worn out? Part L Y
  5. On ebay from time to time. And NW transmission parts for synchro's. Transmissions 1940 to 1950 have many common parts. The synchro~drum may be gone. On pg 65-A items a, b, c & e wear out. Also check the engine & torque tube rubber mounts. (rough clutch & into 3rd) Link --> https://forums.aaca.org/topic/254772-39-buick-clutch-removal/ Use a clutch pack for a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee 6 Cyl.
  6. Maybe Diamond T based. Some but not 100% commonalty. Looks to be a heavy chassis 10-20 T? More details of the engine would help. https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo/diamond-t-truck.html?sortBy=relevant
  7. From a private message InsiderTrader sent me. Others will know more and be able to answer
  8. That orange fuel hose looks far too close. Like above metal would be safer. The tube carb to distributor is vacuum advance for the carb. Carb looks brand new. If it runs all is good.
  9. Google search for "Northwestern Motor Co. JG-40-FK" brings up a photos of the beast. I like it ! https://www.antiquetractorsforum.com/threads/1961-northwestern-motor-co-jg-40-fk-pictures.24937/
  10. http://www.tuckerclub.org/tuckers/tucker-1017/
  11. Not in Australia. Was the local GM Holden, locally made UK based Austin, Vanguard and various Japanese brands utes in Australia. But did find a reference to be assembled in South Africa (right hand drive). Some unusual odd ball bakkies/utes/pickup made in RSA based on cars. From Flickr And http://oldtimerphotography.de/opel/opel-rekord-p2-pick-up/
  12. Got a photo? Serial number? But the numbers can be changed You may have a later engine.
  13. My understanding is Dave Haywood (Oracle) passed away some years ago (April 2012). No profile for "Guest Oracle" as no recent posts. I have done a google search for that book, but looks not to have been formally published (could be wrong!) A very knowledgeable gentleman https://www.gmhistory.chevytalk.org/General_Motors__History_by_Davi.html He did post in 2011 in https://forums.aaca.org/topic/159231-buick-built-in-london-uk/ From another thread in 2011 Post by Oracle 2006
  14. Do you have a photo of the dash (if any)? Front wheels and/or suspension?
  15. In the last ~90 years any AC fuel pump that fitted could/would have been installed when the original failed, as they all do eventually. The rocker arm of the "new" fuel pump may be different to the original. AC fuel pump images (from internet). Not model specific
  16. Series 40 (not 50), but still general guidance https://buick.oldcarmanualproject.com/manuals/1934/1934 Series 40 Shop Manual/page1.html Series 50 https://buick.oldcarmanualproject.com/manuals/1934/1934 Series 50-60-90 Shop Manual/ https://buick.oldcarmanualproject.com/manuals/1934/1934 Series 50-60-90 Shop Manual/page1.html AC fuel pump images (from internet) in the other thread. Not model specific The other thread--> https://forums.aaca.org/topic/412382-fuel-issues-on-a-1934-series-50/
  17. USA GM cars of this era a fabric roof insert. Not a "sun roof". Other images on this car I have show what looks to me to be the normal GM fabric insert. Not unusual for the fabric to be replaced by steel~aluminium sheet some time. Or does it really have an operable UK style sun roof? 1936 was the first year of all metal roof. Have doubts on built/assembled in the UK. More likely fully imported. In the last ~90 years any AC fuel pump that fitted could/would have been installed when the original failed, as they all do eventually. The rocker arm of the "new" fuel pump may be different to the original. USA cars in UK of this era often have different front lighting, due to local laws. As the small side fender(~wing) lights.
  18. If built in Canada RHD would have exported immediately, as Canada is LHD. RHD Buicks from Canada and Flint, MI, USA were exported to various countries. In Australia locally built bodies were installed in imported chassis. Could have been imported to UK any time. in the last ~90 years from anywhere. Depending on the rate of exchange cars move/sell from one country to another. Cars from South Africa are not uncommon (in Australia) due that countries financial problems over the last ~20 years. Can the old rego plate history be investigated? Or a period plate onto the car later? Buick's were sold new in UK. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lendrum_%26_Hartman Some info, but not the most helpful or respectful posts. Some_most of the notable Buick historians who posted have passed away. https://forums.aaca.org/topic/159231-buick-built-in-london-uk/
  19. Welcome to pre war Buicks 1934 series 40 117" wheel base 1934 series 50 119" wheel base 1934 series 60 128" wheel base Image is from 2022
  20. 1934 series 40 117" wheel base 1934 series 50 119" wheel base 1934 series 60 128" wheel base The other thread https://forums.aaca.org/topic/412378-all-help-gratefully-received-in-the-uk/#comment-2654681 Image is from 2022. Was a time when those colors were popular. When made 90%sure were only 1 color. If new in UK in 1934 possible was ex Canada McLaughlin Buick
  21. From 1931 to 1953 Buick had straight 8's. Buick bodies are GM B , Chev was GM A https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Motors_B_platform Car has been repainted blue to green
  22. And has the small wiper transmission, so very likely the short chassis. The engine serial number may be a restamp. Buick used the letter b for 6, and inverted b for 9. Stamping not the same quality as Buick factory Paint 531 is rainer blue (a very nice color IMHO) Trim 700 Novetly Bedford Cloth Tan Trim 701 Mohair Fabric Taupe Front fender lights may have been $4.20 in 1939 but can be ~$250 now. Lens are hard to find. Years ago a friend in NZ made some plastic lens that were a very good match to glass. Hard to tell difference. PASTHINGS Does it drive and stop OK? Are your intentions to restore it ~ get running as is? Many 1 year only parts for 1939 series 40
  23. Post 1 is from 2018. Long way from Melbourne, Australia to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Looks to be still for sale https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/pakenham/cars-vans-utes/buick-1925-vintage-roadster-massive-parts-inventory/1306327707
  24. Many items sold for $10. 25. Was the block ever painted when new? Too many people paint cast iron that was never painted by the factory 75~100 years ago.
