  1. Very well done Chris, and while I'm not really into those cars, I love your enthusiasm and I have a new appreation for them. Good job!
  2. You have a very good point, maybe we're just dinosaurs who don't see the meteor coming. I guess it just comes down to your common hot rodder not showing respect for these cars, the people who designed them or those who built them. Interesting perspective, thanks.
  3. Let's look at the common refrain on this subject, "Hey it's their car and they can do whatever they want", which of course is NOT the point. Of course that's true, the larger question is, just because you can, does not mean you should. Look at it this way, how would you feel about a rich guy buying a B-17 and modifying it by dumping those noisy old radial engines with new quieter engines, or changing out the interior or painting it pink? Would that be OK, because it's his???
  4. Here are the results, and I'm pretty pleased with it, and it will wash right off as per the original would do.
  5. I might have found the answer. This is a water soluble paint used in kindergarten schools When mixed with water and sprayed onto the tire, it should give me the look I was seeking.....and it can forever be just washed away with soap and water....just like an original. I'll paste pictures when completed. Thanks for all the input.
  6. In the future when originals will be unobtainable at any price, these self proclaimed "artists" who mutilate these cars today in order to fulfill their own self-absorbed egos will surely be cursed.
  7. Guys, I just bought an NOS tire for my 1961 Lincoln. It's never touched the ground but someone washed away all the original "Blue" dye that I would like to re-apply. Anyone done this? I could thin out some water-based paint, but I'm wondering if there is not a better method.
  8. Tom, my congratulations as well. I saw the car at Hickory Cornes - Stunning!
  9. Guys I'm going to replicate the original owners name plate that Ford would send out after you filled out the form at the back of the owner's manual. The idea was that it was stuck in the middle of the dashboard. I'm trying to have one reproduced, not with my name, but the name of the original owner. Problem is I need a good sharp picture of one of an untouched original. Any post a picture? Thanks
  10. Yes my guess it is the door lock, and of course if you have a cracked hose or an open line and the hissing will take place.
  11. I have a 1961 Lincoln Sedan that needs to have the vacuum switch on the dashboard that controls the air, heat and vents to be rebuilt. Thanks, 847-997-9944.
  12. The bolt within by bumper guard has been sheared off. I suppose I could repair it by having and have a new threaded rod welded in, or should I just look at a new one?? Thanks.
