  1. Wow. Lots of different stuff there. Mostly projects from what I could see. Be interesting to know how many of them have transferrable titles.
  2. For best response, I would suggest moving this to the Riviera page. As someone who has been there, and didn't read the manual, what you describe shouldn't work as you note. I would suggest making sure you have #1 at TDC on the power stroke and then see which wire the rotor points to. Zimm
  3. I hope you didn't sign any sort of agreement when you got that check. State Farm fought me for weeks over $1,000 on a claim for a car my son drowned in a flash flood. Book was $3,700 on the 93 volvo, and they kept insisting that they would pay $2,400 + 300 because it had new tires on it. Asked my agent if he was willing to lose the several thousand in premiums I paid annually in exchange for being screwed on the only claim I had in 20+ years. He said he couldn't do anything about it. Held out and got the right number, but it was a pain. Hope you don't have a similar experience.
  4. $400 to blast and powder coat a frame does sound like a deal. Started learning to weld on my MGA, with a craftsman gas set up. Still have it, along with better equipment. Still learning 40+ years later.
  5. Thanks all. Spent some time yesterday evening and was able to move the bolts with a 13/16 box end and a cheater bar. Not sure if I need a new front end man, or if I should offer to lend him tools. Zimm
  6. Took my 63 in this morning to get the front end aligned. Used this shop for years, and they have always appeared to have decent knowledge of older cars. Guy is foxed as to how the upper control arm mount nuts (bolts?) come off. Picture below shows the arm and mount. The nut is at the upper left. Nothing in his box will get on the nut and give him enough leverage to turn it. He tried from the other end, but is concerned it might be splined and would like more information before going at it with bigger and bigger breaker bars. I appreciate his caution. Can someone who has had this apart tell me what we are dealing with here:?
  7. If it was me, I would try to find somebody that really knows what they are doing and see if the original panel could be straightned. Is the trunk floor involved? That doesn't work, you will need a very skilled guy to graft on the new quarter. Likely more damage there than meets the eye. Don't let the insurance guys push you around. My TR3 was hit in 2001 and they other guy's insurance company whined when I insisted on using a restoration shop as opposesd to a commercial body shop. They did pay up in the end. Good luck.
  8. Made a cedar chest for my finance (now wife) as a Christmas present and hauled it to her parents house 100 miles away in the back seat of my 70 Camaro. I was actually smart enough to measure the seat before I built it to make sure it would fit.
  9. Baby poop tan? Drove a 70 Challenger that color in High School.
  10. Rapid blink on right, no blink on lieft. Tilt wheel. I understand the possible cable issue and switch adjustment, although have not started taking the column apart. First question was why no sound from the signal unit itself, as I hear on other cars.
  11. Grill is painted and back together. Next step is to aim the headlights, align the front end, and then work on the interior. Before that, I need to get the turn signals working. I've been reading over other threads on the switch adjustment and possible cable issue, but have one simple question before I dig in: Is it normal to be able to hear the blinker unit as in other cars? Its been so long, that I really don't remember if I did or not on the Riv. At the moment, I have a rapid right signal, and no left. No sound from the blinker on either. The signal lever really doesn't feel like its making positive contact in either direction and does not always cancel properly. Lots of stuff to look at, but wondering about one minor item first. Any one have any input to offer? Thanks Zimm
  12. Bet the cammo is hiding a bunch of bondo.
  13. I installed a two post lift in my 9' high garage. Couldn't put a car all the way up, but used a rolling stool to work underneath. Much better than jack stands and rolling around on the floor. We moved last summer, and I brought it with me. New garage is 10' high, which may allow the Riv to be high enough to walk under. For sure the TR3 will be fine. Its a Ben Pearson LMP7, about 40 years old. I have rebuilt the cylinders and replaced the cables since I got it. Very happy to have it and may add a 4 post in the new shop. We'll see.
  14. Excellent resource- thanks. Mine is two tab and has a rubber gromett. Be nice to have this set up corrrectly rather than just laying on top of the engine.
  15. I found and purchased a fuel filter mount for my 63. It appears that the filter mounts vertically? Not sure how that works with routing the lines. Can anyone supply a picture of the mount in place on a motor? Thanks Zimm
  16. Who owns the copyright? Perhaps ROA could scan and add it to the website.
  17. Diggger brings a whole new line into this conversation. While I have seen and read about re numbered cars over the years, I do not recall hearing about/reading about instances of outright forged title documents. It occurs to me that particular scam would blow up quickly. Can you cite any credible sources for your assertion?
  18. One thing I always recommend on a Brit car restoration is a brand new wiring harness. It will cure all sorts of ills and help isolate other electrical problems. True on my MGA in the 70s and TR3 15 years ago. Have one for my TR2 project as well. Man, this brings back memories. My engine came out of the frame after body removal. Zimm
  19. Thanks for the pics. Mine was hooked around the bracket for the pipe to the brake booster. Figured that was wrong. I do notice that my spring is not of the same configuration in the pics, and is pretty well stretched when installed. Wondering if I should replace it? If so, any good sources? Cars doesn't show one in their catalog. Not a part I would want to break while driving. Still looking for the fuel filter bracket- anyone got one to spare? Zimm
  20. Is there a specific bracket or clip for the fuel filter to mount in? How about the throttle return spring? If so, anybody got them? Mine are not there. Thanks Zimm
  21. Excellent fix. I was missing all of my original hangers. Managed to find the front two on ebay and they were usable. Got the other four from Waldrons. Not cheap, but the fit was excellent. Zimm
  22. You are a better man than I. Looking forward to the project.
