  1. Dave, you decoded the RPOs on my 93 Riv several months ago. A question has come up that I think you will know the answer to. FE1 is the standard suspension. What is FE3? Thanks in advance.
  2. Austin, I sent you a private message with some local contact information.
  3. Hi, Austin; Where in the Twin Cities are you located? As I said in my previous post, there are a lot of knowledgeable and helpful first generation people in the area, and a lot of activities every year.
  4. Hi, Thriller. Belated Haqppy U.S. Thanksgiving and really belated Happy Canadian Thanksgiving! I wonder how many got your comment on Rick Young's post about having to wait eleven months to see his new toy. How about a little more information about this 23? Such as the model, condition, etc. And, if you buy it, will you be driving it to the Spring Extravaganza?
  5. Hi, Austin; Great looking car. There are a lot of first generation Riv nuts here in the Twin Cities area. Also, a lot of people with a ton of knowledge and a wonderful willingness to help anyone in need. Whenever you have a question or a need, post it here.
  6. I have 225/75/15 tires on my 65 with standard steel wheels. I get frame rubbing at full steering lock . I'd have one 235 mounted and give it a try.
  7. Send an e-mail to Tom at tsvanmeet@gmail.com. He is a member of this forum - his member name is "old buicks." He specializes in ignition parts for most early models. I have done business with Tom - got items for my 1922 from him.
  8. In 1990 I was a salesman at a Ford dealership. The general manager had special tape stripes put on several 1990 Mustangs along with the words "25th Anniversary Mustang." I know of several dealership which also created their own "special editions." I suspect that this is what this car is.
  9. As the engine moves during acceleration and braking, the top of the air cleaner rubs on the hood insulation. This wears through the decal, which makes it look like it is painted on. Mine looked very similar before I replaced it.
  10. Hi, Jeff. Great looking car. Welcome to the wonderful world of 1920's Buicks. I have some suggestions for you. You've started in the right place, but the Pre-War Forum is more specific to your needs. I'd place my posts there. I also recommend the Buick Heritage Alliance - Buick Heritage Alliance | Home, as a resource. On their home page, click on "browse archive by year" in the lower lefthand corner. On the next page, click on 1926 and the material available will come up. They have the shop manual, owner's manual, parts list, etc. The BCA has a couple of members who are technical advisors for the 1926 models. I suggest that you join the club. If you post your engine & frame number, attn: Dave Corbin, on the Pre-War Forum, he can tell you the probability that the engine is original to the car, and approximately when your car was built. Good luck with the car, and keep us all posted.
  11. It's a decal, available as a reproduction from Jim Osborn Reproductions, Inc., 101 Ridgecrest Drive, Lawrenceville, GA 30045 - Jim Osborn Reproductions Inc. - (770) 962-7556. When I ordered my decal in 2002 the cost was $10.00
  12. From the 1965 Chassis Service Manual: Wheelbase - 117" Front Tread - 63.4" Rear Tread - 59.0" Length - 208" Width - 76.6" Height - 53.0" I hope that this helps.
  13. Welcome to the wonderful world of 1965 Rivieras. There are several very knowledgable first generation owners in the metro area who frequent this forum. All you have to do is post your questions. I suggest that you also join the BCA (Buick Club of America - BCA - Welcome). There are also two local chapters of the Buick Club of America (Gopher State & Fireball), both of which are very active and filled with great people. I'm looking forward to meeting you and seeing your car.
  14. Hi, Ken. I'm not in Ft. Myers but our baseball team has spring training there. Is that close enough? To answer your question in the general section about floor coverings, my 1922 model 46 coupe came with a rubber mat over the wood floor boards. I can't imagine carpet in an open car - it would smell like a wet dog after each rain! I purchased sparkplugs at NAPA - Autolite 3076. You can try Tom VanMeeteren for ignition parts. He is in Valley, Nebraska. Phone 402-359-5762. E-mail tsvanmeet@huntel.net. Also, look up John Beatty - jbbuick22 on this forum. He is the BCA 1922 technical advisor. His phone is 508-647-1515. I have found John to be an excellent resource. In 1922 bumpers were dealer or owner installed - they didn't come from the factory. There is a 1922 Book of Parts on e(vil)Bay right now in North Dakota with a bid of $9.99. There is also a set of sparkplugs bid up to $125 currently. I didn't pay anywhere near that at NAPA. I suggest that you also post your questions on the Pre-War General forum. That forum has a huge following. Good luck with the car.
  15. There is also the "Display" class - no judging - which at Ames was free.
  16. Hey Thriller, If you are trying to increase your inventory to catch up to a couple of BCA BOD members from Minnesota, you don't have a chance. As they say in the old war movies, "Pull up, PULL UP!" while you still can.
  17. "Would like to be in the $11K - 12K ballpark." - it's a little hard to pick out.
  18. Tom, do you have exact information on who rebuilt your water pump & starter/generator, like name, address, phone number, web site or email? I'd appreciate the info.
  19. I used to live on a U.S. highway with lots of traffic. The whole block used oven cleaner to clean the ourside of our windows. It was about the only thing that would cut through the deposit on the glass.
  20. Paul, How odd! I was thinking of you when I wrote that. Received any death threats lately - not counting from Kris, Fred or Donna?
  21. Suggestion to all - before clicking on the post reply icon, re-read your post, then take a deep breath, wait a few minutes, and read it again. I do this becuase I don't have any extra room in my mouth for my foot.
  22. Ron, I have the wiring diagram. Send me a PM with your e-mail address and I'll send it to you. Erik - I have your e-mail address. I'll get it off to you shortly.
