  1. My 1965 Riv has a tail light problem which I assume is caused by a bad ground. The tail lights and brake lights work normally. With the head lights/tail lights on, putting on the right turn signal causes the left side tail lights to go out. What is the best way to access/remove the tail light assembly and exactly how does the assembly ground to the car? Thanks in advance.
  2. The Buick: A Complete History, Seventy Years of Buick, The Standard Catalog of Buick and The Buick Bugle 2008 Membership Roster all agree: 10,803 model 57 sedans were built in 1932. None of these sources say anything about body colors. Any of the above sources have production figures for all years.
  3. 11.75 quarts is the required amount if you are doing a full overhaul of the transmission. This would mean the total disassembly of the transmission and the removal of all of the fluid. If the pan is drained, such as for a filter change, then only 4.86 quarts are called for.
  4. My 1984 Buick All Series Chassis Service Manual specifies DEXRON - II Automatic Transmission Fluid or equivalent for the automatic transmission/transaxle. The capacity is listed as 11.75 quarts if a full overhaul is being done, 4.86 quarts if you just drop the pan. The 4.1L engine holds 4 quarts of engine oil with a filter change, and somewhat more with a new filter. No exact amount is listed. I guess you would need to pour some in and check the dipstick. I hope that this info helps.

  9. Check out buickheritagealliance.org - click on "browse reasearch archive by year", and click on "1924". Item 00340 is a Buick Reference Book for 4-cylinder models - a copy costs $47.50. I bought one for my 1922 six cylinder coupe and it is invaluable.
  10. Do you have pictures? Where are you located? Price?

  14. I'm looking for a source for the original MSRP prices for the 1965 Riviera including factory options. I thought that the prices were listed in The Standard Catalog of Buick. I have the 1903 - 1990 edition and it doesn't have the prices for this era.
  15. Mar/Apr Riview received today. Great magazine. Congrats to all involved. Jim in Minn ROA #9474 1965 & 1984 Rivs

  17. I have a 1965 with the standard saddle interior. My car is sahara mist and I love the color combination. Jim ROA #9474 1965 & 1984 Rivs
  18. I need the glove box latch for a 1984 Riv. I need the part that is above the glove box opening, not the part that is attached to the door. I don't need the metal part that adjusts; I need the part with two screw holes that mounts to the opening, and has the plastic adjustment screw. For the same car I need the following driver's door-lock parts: Rod - Actuator to bell crank (#17, fig. 5-86 door and window hardware, page 5-50 Doors - B,D,E,G,K Styles, in the 1984 Fisher Body Service Manual) and the rod that goes from the bell crank up through the hole in the door. It has the door knob on the end. There isn't any item number for this rod in the drawing.
  19. Problem solved. Thanks to those who responded both here and on the ROA site.

  24. re: jscheib I am a member of the BCA and the ROA. I worked in registration at the BCA Nationals in Rochester, MN in July. I had an imformal sign-in for ROA members, which totaled 58. According to some who were at Flagstaff, we had more ROA members at the BCA National Meet than were at the ROA National Meet.
