  3. The difference between the 4 wire and 7 wire switches is that with the 4 wire switch your need an additional bulb or two filament bulbs. With the 7 wire switch you can use the parking light bulb and the brake light bulb for turn signals. Robert Kapteyn

  9. I had a request for a front brake drum for a 1940 Commander. From memory it seems that a 1/2 ton truck drum was the same. Only the drum itself and you would need to change the hub. Can anyone confirm this? Robert Kapteyn

  12. If you can find the Studebaker part numbers you require in the Chassis parts catalog you now have communicate with Robert Kapteyn in Joliet, Illinois. He has a 4 story warehouse filled with early parts of that era. Sorry about the delay in getting back to you. My wife was in the hospital and I did not go to the shop. I bought out the parts inventories from 28 Studebaker dealers as a retirement project. I have inventoried 23.000 part numbers. I have shipped parts to all corners of the globe.   17. The Packard Hawk website was taken down by Mike Williams because of hackers (packardhackers?). If you want a roster of existing cars or add yours , contact me to get his contact info. I have two Packard Hawks for sale. Some parts are missing from each cars but between the two you will have a good restorable car with enough left to find the needed parts and complete the second car. I also have hoarded a large number of N.O.S. parts for these cars and the buyer of the cars gets first dibbs. Contact me at studebaker@mac.com
  18. Talk to Myron. He owned the dies. He said that there is not enough of a market and that he was not going to make more. He would see if the maker still has the dies. You maybe able to improve the fit and use the correct rubber compound. Contact John Mc.Call and see what he has done. Between the three of you we may see some results.   19. The best way to identify a Studebaker is to look at the tag under the hood on the right side of the firewall on the top. Passenger side on U.S. LHD cars.
  20. The first year that used an acrylic piece in the hood ornament was 1941. Do a google on different years Studebaker images and compare.
