  1. That was great. Every model was attractive and exciting in 1965. What happened?
  2. I saw this Plymouth at Rhinebeck in the Hudson Valley around 1990. My father and I were wandering around the flea market when to drove in. As we were looking at the car, Earl Buton and another Plymouth expert seemed to materialize around the car. It wasn't in great condition as you can see in the photo, but it quickly sold for something like $4,000, and was driven home by its new owner. I've never seen it again.
  3. My relatives never left behind anything like this! http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20090101/ts_afp/britainautoauctionoffbeat_090101195011
  4. Where did you see this car? I have been trying to determine the whereabouts of a '29 Plymouth that I saw for sale at Rhinebeck years ago. Could this be the car?
  5. I would hook up a gauge that you know works before you go nuts tearing the engine apart. My Plymouth usually has about 30psi at idle.
  6. The number is also stamped on the frame cross-member between the pedals.
  7. 1930-1934 are all the same except for some of the 30-31 with artillery wheels.

I say this because my husband and I own number 3296 - a 1911 Sears Model H. The picture below is of Sears at exhibit in front of the NC Museum of History in Raleigh. If you don't mind, would you check your Dad's registry and see if we are listed - Barker and Judy Edwards. Thanks. </div></div> Yes, your car is listed in the Sears Registry. You may be right about the number of cars built. We are fairly sure that the serial numbers started at 1000, the earliest serial number listed is 1005. The highest is 5025, but then there is a jump to some five digit numbers running from 12280-32193. Needless to say, the actual number of Sears cars is somewhat cloudy to say the least. BTW, my father's car is #3448.
  9. My dad has owned his Sears for 40 years. He is currently compiling a registry of surviving cars with a friend on the west coast. So far they have found over 200 cars surviving, that's about a 10% survival rate, which is rather amazing. The Sears is a very simple and durable machine. They are a blast to drive. I took my GPS for a ride this summer, and the car topped out at 21 MPH, engine screaming.
  10. Did you check with Rhode Island Wiring? They probably have the whole harness too. http://www.riwire.com/
  11. I sent an e-mail too, and received no response.
  12. I saw this car for sale at Rhinebeck about 15 years ago. Does anyone know what happened to it? Anyone know of any others?

  14. Glad to be of help. I was wondering, did this truck come with this engine, or was it swapped at some point?
  15. I forget how I set up the distributor, but the specs from a Chevy should work ok. Let me know if you can't find them. I have an old tune-up manual somewhere that has everything in it.
  16. Art, That looks like a Delco distributor. I put one on my dad's 10B because AW caps became too hard to get. It's a nice upgrade. I needed points for my '32, and they were on the shelf at Pep Boys. Ask for parts for a 1929-53 Chevy six.
  17. Does the rest of the Chrysler come with it?
  18. If they say Allstate, they're OLD.
  19. I had a beautiful honeycomb core made for my grandfather's 1933 Chrysler by a guy on Staten Island. I have no recollection of his name, but his shop was in a temporary worksite trailer. We were reluctant to leave the radiator with him, but he came highly recommended. This was about 15 years ago, maybe ask around.
  20. I worked at a Sears auto center in 1991, and they were still selling Guardsman tires, although without the Allstate name.
  21. My 1932 Franklin has a Ross steering box as you describe. The length of the column may be different.

Nice kitty. The mice fear my property.
