I don't recall seeing it mentioned here, but one thing I've learned is to have a thin rag or cloth glove between your hand and the workpiece when feeling for imperfections in the repaired surface.

The last time I was in Tractor Supply they carried gloss equipment paint in quarts and gallons. Might be worth a look.

If you can find a death certificate for Jack Wilson it might show a next-of-kin you can contact. Check with the county clerk.

The radiators were manufactured by the same Fedders company that made air conditioners. Makes sense because air conditioner coils are very similar to a car radiators. Fedders is now known as Fedders USA, located in Basking Ridge, NJ. You may still be able to get some application info if you contact them. Their number is: 908-502-5418

Cash for Clunkers II - Here we go again...
Harold replied to f.f.jones's topic in General Discussion
As I recall, the earlier edition of C4C originated in California and then spread to the rest of the country. I suspect this new program will do the same. I believe it's very sad that these lower-end used cars won't be available to people that can't afford better ones. I saw some great vehicles get scrapped on the last go-round. -
Good used condition. Has small tear in rear cover. $15.00 postpaid in the lower 48 states. PayPal is OK.

Do you still have the original ignition switch and is it complete with the lock cylinder? If so, take it to a locksmith and have him make a key for it. The bonus is that the ignition key would probably fit the doors as well (assuming the new key was made to have the same cuts as the original).

Pre War Locksmith - and making a key for a 1928 Chrysler.
Harold replied to edinmass's topic in General Discussion
If you have any old GM keys you should try them in the trunk lock. There were relatively few cut combinations back then and you might get lucky. True story.... My mother, aunt, and cousin went to a Bingo game in the sixties in my aunt's '55 Buick. When they left the game at the end of the evening, they accidentally drove off in another '55 Buick. Turns out both cars used the same key. -

The glove box lock usually has the key code stamped on it. If you remove it and bring it to a locksmith he may be able to cut a key for you. -

The '51 Plymouth cab made me smile. They're my favorite car..... -
A couple of years ago we visited the 'other' LeMay collection and were very impressed. Didn't have time for both. I'm looking forward to seeing this collection the next time we visit our son in Seattle. You really have to admire someone who was so into vintage vehicles and also had the means to save them.

Good looking car. Congrats on you purchase! The '46-'48 Mopar lineup carried over into 1949 and has been referred-to as 'First Series' '49. The 'true' '49's came out at the beginning of the calendar year. I know that Plymouth had two sizes of basic hubcap, depending on the model. The Chrysler line may have had the same sizing scheme.

What's The Slowest Car You've Owned? Did You Enjoy It?
Harold replied to 58L-Y8's topic in General Discussion
The slowest car I ever had was a '71 Ford Pinto with an automatic transmission that I bought for $25.00 to save it from the junkyard. I'd go through red lights to avoid stopping short and getting hit in the rear!
