  1. At least one of the car crashes during the chase scene was unscripted due to locals stumbling onto the filming area.
  2. I toured the GM Lordstown assembly plant with my dad late in 1966 when the Camaros were being introduced. A black painted nose dropped down to be installed on a silver Camaro. The line stopped, alarms went off, and the silver/black combo car was pushed off the line. Mistakes did happen!
  3. This is a Haynes repair manual covering 1971-1991 Dodge and Plymouth full-size vans. Includes detailed repair information, specifications, and wiring diagrams. Has some wear but complete and intact. A handy manual to carry along in your van! $14.00 postpaid by Media Mail in the lower 48 states.

  5. Used copy of the 1957-58 Dodge Truck Parts List covering K-series, L-series, 4-wheel drive, and tandem rear axle models. The manual is about 2" thick and printed on loose-leaf pages wired together with thin cardboard serving as front and back covers. Includes part numbers and illustrations. The pages are in good condition and the manual looks complete although I didn't go through every page. $57.00, including Media Mail shipping in the lower 48 states.

  7. I have several original Mopar service training manuals from a small-town Dodge dealer that closed in the early 1980's. They're in excellent nearly-unused condition. If you have any questions please let me know.

  9. I read recently that Bon Ami has a new formula that uses a different abrasive than earlier. They still make 'original formula' and that's the one to use for delicate polishing.
  10. I believe the Belvedere squad cars in Adam-12 were built as standard all-white sedans and then the black two-tone (with nameplates removed) was added later. The cars didn't have the stainless paint-splitter molding on the C-pillars and under the rear windows, and had white door jambs. Also, FWIW, Hazel's drunk boyfriend crashed his '52 Plymouth in one episode of that show.
  11. My friend had a similar situation with his fairly modern Ford Focus sunroof. He heard an unusual noise while driving and was poking around the car to pin down the source. As soon as he touched the sunroof glass it popped out of the car and blew away.
  12. About 10-15 years ago Rhinebeck was held on a rainy Mother's Day weekend. We attended, but cars and vendors were sparse and we felt it was a waste of time. We probably won't go tomorrow unless there is a radical change in the weather.
  13. FWIW, I think the caps are from Plymouth Police Cars from roughly 1967.
  14. New York City just loves plate readers. They use them in conjunction with speed cameras for effortless revenue generation. It seems like there is a reader every few hundred feet. Several years ago New Jersey went over to temporary tags ('paper plates') that are the same size as metal plates and must be displayed in the license plate area on each vehicle. I believe this was done to facilitate electronic plate readers. Temporary tags used to be small pieces of paper that got taped to the inside of the rear window.
  15. There is one that comes to mind.... 1970 Pontiac LeMans: Confiscated car that I bought from a federal sealed-bid sale. The only time I ever 'upped' my own sealed bid in order to get a car. Bad move! Something broke every week or two. It even caught itself on fire in front of a gas station. The positive battery cable was routed (from the factory) through a tube in the exhaust manifold and the insulation wore through causing the fire (great job, Pontiac!). I was actually kind of happy (the car was insured) but that was short-lived because the gas station owner came running over with a fire extinguisher. The guy fixed the car very reasonably and I wound up selling it to a kid. I saw the car about 2 months later in the local junk yard because the motor blew.
  16. OEM jack for Camaro and Firebird 1982-1992, part number 14065772. Doesn't have the handle. Good condition with blemishes consistent with normal use. See the photos for more details. $20.00 picked-up in/near Freehold, NJ 07728. Let me know your zip code and I can figure out shipping if you need it. Don't be surprised if the shipping is pricey due to new USPS postal rates. 1983 1984 1985 1986 1987 1988 1989 1990 1991
  17. Vintage softcover book from 1951 that explains everything you'd want to know about solder, including composition, principles of use, and much more. Has 31 pages of valuable information! $25.00 postpaid by Media Mail in the lower 48 states.
  18. On the last day of an Englishtown swap meet in the 1980's, I found several Carter Ball & Ball carburetors on the trash pile. I picked them up and still have them. I put one on my '52 Plymouth and it's still in use today.
  19. Rustproofing has some benefits for sure. When I lived in Buffalo in the 1970's, the ex-Phone Company '68 Valiant I had was Ziebarted when new. It was the least-rusty Valiant of the many in my parking lot.
