  1. Dave, Yes I was one of those that put some of the GM Buick service manuals together in the 70's for about a year. For the amount of information, the original manuals cannot be beat. You are correct if you are just looking for a plug gap or something the smaller books are ok.
  2. Great story. Nothing like a good drive in the country to refresh the mind and soul.
  3. Many early cars were right hand drive in the states. The change over to left hand drive was generally complete by about 1915.
  4. You may or may not lose station present depending on the vehicle. On some completely dead batteries you may need to put them on a slow charge for as long as a week until they start to take a charge and then charge completely. I have done this to a number of "bad batteries" that were given to me and ended up using them for 4-5 years. Now this only works on a newer battery usually less than a year old. Will not work for a battery more than 5 years old give or take.
  5. Great clips on roads. If you want to see a video trip down the Bolivian Death road, look at this clip.
  6. The question about an appraiser is part of this post. Does anyone know of one in the phily area that he can call? Also it is a 4cyl car. Thanks for the responses.
  7. This problem is only the tip of the ice berg. Everyone remembers the recent engine sludging problems with about 3.5 MILLION vehicles including Lexus? Toyota Agrees to Sludge Settlement for Consumers toyota engine sludge - Google Search
  8. If I was guessing, there were not as many street lights available in the 40's & 50's. I can remember when young they were used to find driveways, street signs, house numbers, etc...
  9. Roberta, You are so right about the metal flake in the paint. Being a service rep at the time for Buick when the Grand Nationals were being built & sold I inspected dozens of black Grand Nationals and there were very few if any that were perfect. Dave Corbin is correct in that there is no perfect vehicle coming off the line.
  10. Check here for valves that you might need for your 83 buick park avenue cruise control http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Results.aspx?Ntt=valve|vacuum%20valve&Ntk=Keyword|Keyword&N=0
  11. I have a friend that is going through a parting with his wife(soon to be ex) and trying to get an accurate value on his project 24 Buick Roadster that is in parts as you can see. The engine in the chassis runs. He lives outside of Philadelphia and needs an accurate value on it for asset division. Can someone give me some idea where he can go and maybe a phone number. I have attached some pictures if anyone wants to give it an idea. If you can help, pm me and I will give you his phone number. Thanks,
  12. Rocket raider I am partial to the factory manuals because among other reasons is how can an $20.00 book with maybe 150 pages from the aftermarket compete with a genuine factory book that may have 1000 pages or more?? I know the effort that has gone into the original factory manuals because I wrote some of the GM service manual sections early in my career with GM.
  13. Here, Buy both the GM Buick manual and Fisher Body manual for $29.95 or best offer. Ebay item 1967 GM BUICK Chassis Service Manual & Body by Fisher : eBay Motors (item 160397305427 end time Feb-20-10 11:40:21 PST) For a convertible, I would be sure to get the Fisher Manual also.
  14. I gave all of my Buick manuals, bulletins, etc about 25 years worth to the Buick Historical collection at the Sloan Museum in Flint. They have one I am sure, but for $30.00 I would buy one and have it shipped to the house and I only live 42 miles from the Sloan Museum in Flint. If you want, here is a link to the Sloan. 15. What kind of car are you working on?
  16. The owners manual covers maintenance items. Everything else is covered in the service manual books that I put the link to. If you need the body information like how to take window regulators from the doors, etc, then also pick up the Fisher Body book also.
  17. Here is some additional information Delco-Light - GMnext
  18. Ebay is the best place. They come up regularly. Here is a link. 1967 buick service manual, eBay Motors, Collectibles. Great deals on eBay!
  19. Will need to change engine calibration if you change axle ratios.
  20. I would like to say that Hummer is not a domestic/US brand. It is a global brand and the mistake that GM management has made is that only 20% of Hummer sales should come from North America and the other 80% from the rest of the world. GM management has been focused on the majority of Hummer sales in the North American market which is wrong. There will always be persons in the world that will want to say with or without words that their vehicle is bigger than yours regardless of the price of fuel. Also, how do you make a vehicle like Hummer and not put a diesel engine in it??? The missteps by GM are unbelieveable.
  21. What is amazing is that this actually made the front pages of most newspapers including the Wall Street Journal today. Usually Toyota gets a pass on all recalls or problems with their vehicles. If there is any note of it in a newspaper it is usually relagated to about one inch of column on page 16 b in the galley. An example is the engine sludging issue. They blamed the consumer for not changing the oil enough.
