  1. If you might want a Buick, there is a big swap meet/ show in Flint at Patsy Lou's Buick on Corunna Rd Sunday. Might find someone there. I would look for Roberta. Here is the link to the event. http://forums.aaca.org/f115/sundaysunday-buicktown-swap-meet-oct-3-a-289940.html
  2. I agree that the early cars are a labor of love. That is one of the reasons that I have them is because not everyone can just jump in and drive them. It takes a lot of knowledge and patience to drive one. Anyone can jump in and drive a 60's muscle car, but not everyone can drive a brass/nickel vehicle.
  3. I recently purchased the 17 truck specifically for my 17 year old son to drive. He is currently helping me get it fixed up to drive. I like Oldcarfud is working to keep younger persons involved in the brass/nickel era vehicles. It has been great developing common interests.
  4. I guess I am confused at the question. Buick was started in Mi 1903 and the money-profits in the ensuing years from Buick was used to buy all of the different parts (Olds, Cadillac, Delco, etc) that became GM. GM was incorporated in the US in Sept 1908. My recollection is that Billy Durant made arrangements with McLaughlin to build Buicks in Canada. Over time the portfolio was expanded and formalized into GM of Canada in 1918.
  5. Did the guys T bucket have the VIN plate on it? Maybe that was the tie to the year.
  6. What are the cars that you have ex98thdrill? And any pictures?
  7. I personally threw away the old style drop lights years ago and now only own the florescent style that is enclosed in plastic. Any spark and liquid hydrocarbon does not make for a good day. Also, the old style gets hot and burns things. Side note, I just bought an updated one with a retractable cord reel at Costco a couple of weeks ago for I think $40.00 and it is a Snap-On brand light.
  8. Hey, I recognize the Engine house in Allendale, Mich. Cool place that belongs to a high school friend of mine.
  9. I have these 2 / 14 inch aluminum wheels I think came off a mid 80's GM car. Can someone let me know what they are off. The number off the wheel is 22535641. They are for sale and I can deliver to Hershey. Thanks
  10. To the best of my knowledge from what I have read most of the cars were painted black. If the customer wanted a different color, the dealer usually repainted to the customer desired color. An item to note is that some vehicles from prior to 1920 are over done with lots of chrome on them and that is not correct. Usually those vehicles had brass or nickel trim or were black. The trucks that I have had the bodies available from the factory in green, red, or yellow according to literature that I have. From what I have seen, the hood, fenders, etc were black.
  11. I read an article in the Wall Street Journal about a year ago and if my memory is correct, it takes about 13,000 gallons of water to make one gallon of ethanol from corn kernel in the ground to the tank of the consumer. And we are doing this where there is water concerns around the country??????
  12. What is wrong with the headlights? Are they burned out or do they not go up and down? If the problem is that they will not go up and down, there is a ton of information on how to fix them. There are kits to replace the gears that usually are the problem.
  13. I agree that there is nothing better than being at a swap meet in the fall, but I have been able to get things off ebay that I would have never been able to get. Found and purchased things from all over the world.
  14. Did the striker latch flip over on the door so the door will not close close to the body? If that is the case, just pull on the door handle like you are going to open the door and flip the little latch on the door back into position. Look at the other door to see if the latches look the same. If it looks different, then that is probably your problem.

  18. My 1917 D-35 has flat fenders. My 1918 has curved fenders. In the 1917 run the fenders changed to a crowned fender. Don't remember where I read it, but that is what I have and have seen.
  19. Just be sure to wear your seat belt and if there are none in the truck, put some in and use them. :-)
  20. By chance, did/could you get the vin off the truck? Should be under the left headlight on the frame rail. Would be interested since I have one also. Thanks
  21. I was at the Old Car Festival and the Kissels were an impressive display.
  22. Coming back into the states is a crap shoot on time. I have been over some days and it is s breeze, but lately it has been longer. I have a neighbor that came over about 2 weeks ago and he said that it was over an hour waiting in line.
