  1. I get some form of gift from her every day, and have coffee cups the kids made for me that sit on a shelf in my room and never get used... for that reason, and the fact that it belonged to a very dear friend before it came to my father, I would rather have the Maxwell!!
  2. I thought you would enjoy the cup. It came in a box of stuff my parents were dumping out under instructions to keep or donate. My 6 year old saw it and invented a story about when she gave me the cup with the pretty leaf for Father’s Day.... it is now the cup I use every morning!
  3. Kids fed and happily ignoring me: Dads garage is more interesting, warmer, and I have some parts to box up there.
  4. Have you driven a royale much? There used to be one in my town (the guy that had it still has a couple flying clouds), but the royale wasn’t much of a tour car so he got rid of it. I always thought he should invest in a new rear end gear (or whole rear end) and get some enjoyment out of an absolutely stunning car, but as it was he was searching for another gear long before the model A fords were at their typical (for my club) 42 mph cruising speed.
  5. That might be the real reason I don’t pop out to the garage for a picture. I would end up polishing brass and my children would be fending for themselves.
  6. Good morning all. the Coffee is on and being enjoyed, but travel plans have been a little crazy so I still have the kids. Might not be hanging out in the garage this morning. Looking forward to everyone else’s pics though!
  7. I know of two already up in my town.
  8. Many years ago my father made this the plan for a lunch on a car tour. A couple people did it, most were appalled at the proposition. He and I used to do it all the time.

In 1912 you will be able to identify engine by wheelbase of car. 86” messenger 2cyl 104” mascotte 25hp 4cyl 110” mercury 30hp 114” special 36hp E and G are both 1910 models with identical chassis. EA and GA are the 1911 equivalents.

Post a pic or five and we will be able to tell you.
  11. My scores greatly diminished as the subject matter got younger.
  12. you actually aced that test before you took it.
  13. the one I missed was likely one of the easiest too.
  14. if it has electric lights it is just a used car.
  15. that flight was canceled too.
  16. I don’t believe an ALF would have a radiator badge in the brass era, so you could just make a script for the business part of the radiator to get the job done... unless the shell on it has a hole to cover up...
  17. I have for a long time wondered about these made from pieces cars. There is obviously a segment of the hobby that looks down on them, but they did exist when the component parts were only a few years old... guys will start talking about pictures and documentation of any particular car when you approach it that way. When I first got into brass era cars I was a teen, and my father that raised me in antique cars had his interest moving earlier. Back then, brass era cars were very hard to acquire. Most changed hands privately, and at dollars that seem like nothing today but were formidable to my father then and insane to me as a dumb kid. Early parts on the other hand.... were cheap! I always wondered if those groups I enjoyed touring with so much would accept a mutt made up of period parts. I never built one... I played with dads cars until I had my own (thanks to dad).... I am still mostly playing with dads cars (he has better cars)... but I always wondered if a modern made conglomeration of pre-15 pieces would be welcome.
  18. Whenever I see a movie with early cars in it the experience is ruined by my brain not being able to get over the knowledge that the two cars sitting next to each other could not have been shiny and new at the same time.
  19. I suppose since you can’t see that bumper from the drivers seat, that would be the preferred view.
  20. I believe this must be the other one, but on the market and in the hands of a very good car guy. I say that about most people that also have Maxwells.
  21. Those T’s held up better than Lillian.
