  1. You may be refuring to a Sports Coupe as what Ford called their Model A with a fake convertible top. It looked like it would fold down on the inside and outside but it did not. Chevrolet offered a Sports Cabriolet with a dummy convertible top with 41,137 being built all I belive with Rumble Seats and a 2 passenger Coupe with I believe all 124,101 being built with a trunk. Hope that helps.
  2. What are you plans with this car ? Are you going to try to build back as a sedan ? This would also make a great basis for a speedster ?
  3. You lucky guy. If you get it let me know. I could also help with the HPOF info. As my car is certified as HPOF. If you get this and the others we spoke of, you will have a museum started !!!
  4. These are some of the nicest looking early 6 cyl. Chevrolets in my opinion. The numbers have been of great discussion for a number of years. Some say less than 50 survive. However from the number that show up from time to time; with a suspected production of around 300; that seems like too high of a survival rate. At one time I saw 3 listed on eBay at one time. Especially considering the amount of wood in the construction. Interest point is that all of these were originally painter the same color as this example. This car is one that makes me wish that Chevrolet kept the kind of records that Ford did in the day. I have heard there will soon be a 29 Landau being shown with the RARE Accessory wire wheels. That will be extra sharp looking!!!
  5. You might check a local NAPA store for the needed parts. You will be surprised what they can get. When I'm looking for such parts my first stop is NAPA. Have yet to not find what I needed.
  6. Alan, If you are not already you might consider joining the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America. The club is a great source of information. There is also an award winning magazine that offer classifieds for wanted and for sale parts. Send me a Private Message if you need info on joining. To my knowledge the parts you are looking for are not reproduced. Welcome to the world of the "Cast Iron Wonder"
  7. If this is the one put on by the the chapter of Ohio Region I believe you will find it at the county fairgrounds. I attended a couple of years ago. Was well attended, lots of buyers, even found a few great bargains. I believe it was just out side of Ashtebulla (?)....Best of Luck !
  8. Dewey While the bumpers do look nice and are a great safety feature. Did you know they were dealer installed accessories until 1932 or 1933 ? So you could run with out bumbers and be correct. Don't know how many are out there that way. Often thoought it would be great to test the waters at a show some time. Best of luck with your search !
  9. Tom What is the latest on the arrival of the car ? Hope it was all you expected it would be. Keep us posted.
  10. I have a couple of AC W-16 oil filter elements that I can not ID. Anyone have an older catalog that would ID these. I'm sure someone out there could use these but with out knowing what they are I can not seem to sell. Thanks in advance.
  11. I'm only stating what I have seen in this area at swap meets. If you are talking eBay that is another story. Did not intend to offend anyone. I have seen the older versions 1958 for instance in the $800.00 range and higher at local swap meets. If these go for the $250 - $500 range I guess I missed out on what I saw a few weeks ago.
  12. Looks like a Cats Eye Cig lighter from the 40's. The center glows as the element get hot. I understand these were Chevrolet Accessories in the post WW2 era. Not sure about that. May be folk lore.
  13. Not a Chevrolet, at least the dash and cowl are not.
  14. These are interesting books. Great information. I've seen this age sell for $30.00 and seen them ask $100.00 for them. I think this is one of those cases where they are worth what the market bears. Are you interested in selling? Send me a PM if you are.
  15. Howard Usually you can save at least the shipping charge and maybe 10%. If you can find several guys needing tires at the same time you can save more with delivery at a big show. Try Coker Tire as they travel the big shows regularly.
  16. Great looking car Tom ! Would like to see it some time also. We can't be far away from each other. Ken
  17. Thanks to the two of you for the assistance. I have found matching serial numbers in the two places mentioned. It appears that my car was built about Sept 27, 1926 from the research I have found on serial numbers for Model T's...Thanks again.
  18. Tomorrow I will be picking up the title to my recent barn find 1926 T Sedan. In preparation of going to the local license registrar I'm trying to find the Serial Number on the car. Can anyone point me in the right direction ? This title I will receive to take to the registrar ought to cause a stir as it is a 1943 Title ! The executor of the estate was worried about not having an odometer statement. When I told him that was OK, because a speedo and odometer were optional back then ona Ford he was dazed and amazed. The adventure continues.
  19. John In the N. Illinois Area try Pheasant Run Resort ( http://www.pheasantrun.com/ ). The VCCA was there in the past with excellent hospitality. First class all the way. In Ohio you might check out Wright State University's Nutter Center area. There are lots of Hotels in the area. A few years ago the Model A Ford Club hosted their National Meet there. They bring in 1000 + A's annually. The Greene County Visitors Bureau could offer assistance. Best of luck with the search.
  20. You might try checking out a NAPA Auto Parts Store for all of the tune up items you mention. Several of our local Chapter members get their tune up parts there. I've heard of people picking up parts for Packards, Chryslers, Hupmobiles, Willys, Grahams, Pontiac, Buick, Chevrolet and Ford to name a few.
  21. Thanks West ! I had an excellent experience this weekend at a local swap meet. This experience was typical of the kind of people old car people are. I mentioned to a vendor; that I have come to know over the years; that I had acquired a Model T. As it turned out he is a second generation T person. And he lives about 25 minutes from me. He volunteered to come to my house to give me Model T lessons, pointers and help me figure out why I can not roll the car. We will be getting together in a few weeks. This hobby is full of wonderful people willing to share their knowledge to keep the hobby alive. There are also many people that are more than willing to help in a time of need in this hobby. On a National Tour a few years ago I had some minor mechanical problems, once the word spread of my problem. I have more help offered than you could ever imagine. To the point of a friend back home taking a part off of his car in his garage and shipping to FedEx Priority overnight to get me back on the road. Then about a week after I got home a spare part arrive on my door step. A fellow tourist had the part at home and had no need for it. So it was sent to me so that I would have a spare in the future. I can not wait to get this car running. I will be patient as I don't want to damage anything after such long storage.
  22. I understand that the wheel problem is not a problem. It may be something in the transmission or I can not find neutral on the hand brake lever. Will try this weekend to find neutral. Would like to get rolling on it's own wheels. I will need to get tubes for the tires. I have two that don't hold air and two that do hold air. I think Snyder's - Gaslight and I will be good friends as I work on this.
  23. These are most likely similar to the Chevrolet set up. With that being true you will need wire wheel hubs, drums and brakes to start with.
