Then, when we were driving the car again 20 minutes later, it happened quite frequently while I was driving through town, but not every time I hit the break - more like every third time....
2. Actually, I know the vibration you are talking about, and that is not the vibration I am talking about - I would describe the rotor/brake thing as a "pulsing" in the brake pedal. I have good rotors and pads so I know that's not the problem... this is something I've not experienced in any of my cars... it's like a stutter in the pedal. I know it's not calipers, rotors or pads - maybe something related to the ABS system? Oh, and no, there are no lights on. The yellow ABS was on for a few months, and then, after I didn't drive the car for a few weeks (month or more?), the yellow light did not stay on anymore (it still comes on when I start the car though). Like I said, I've not felt anything like this through a brake pedal before so I'm mystified... and I've had my share of brake problems!
3. Hi All, I'm not sure how to 'search' this problem so I'm just going to ask the knowledgeable folks here... Yesterday I was driving my '89 Blue home from work and when I pulled up in the driveway I noticed that the brake pedal seemed to vibrate under my foot, which felt VERY weird. We then had to run an errand so we jumped in Blue and hit the road - and then the vibration in the pedal happened almost every time I had to brake - and it kinda freaked me out to be honest! What in the world is this?? The pedal even seems to make a noise when the vibration occurs, like a grinding sound. What's the problem? I'm afraid to drive it right now... As always, your help and kind assistance is always appreciated!
4. Glad you found something that fits your needs - I just hope your Land Rover isn't going to be the repair money pit I've heard they are....!
5. Today I decided to tackle changing out the black trim section of the door panel on my Claret/fixer upper. After getting the panel off I was perplexed by the upside down metal "thingys" holding the trim piece on the door panel. Using pliers, I had to turn them millimeter by millimeter to get the darn things off - whose bright idea was it to use these things? How is one supposed to remove them in the real world?? I ended up flipping half of them over when re-attaching the trim. Unfortunately, some of them could not be tightened so I had to turn them upside down and, once again using pliers, tighten them millimeter by agonizing millimeter. One of the reasons I had decided to replace the black piece was because the door strap couldn't be held on because the hole was stripped/cracked/screwed up. Well guess what - the replacement I put in was just as bad and worse - I cannot attach the door strap AT ALL because both of the holes are messed up! Does anyone have any idea what to do to get the strap attached once this has happened?? Any and all advice would be appreciated!
6. We went to the Kruse spring auction this past Saturday and were disappointed to find that the event was MUCH smaller than the auction this past Labor Day weekend. Has the spring auction always been much smaller? Is there a problem that there were only a handful of vendors? They had some nice old cars go over the auction block, and the "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" car went for $505,000.
7. We were there as well. Most interesting item we saw was a 93 year old gent sitting by his 1930 Model T truck. He had a few stories to tell! The car deal we laughed at the most - someone was selling a 1938 Chevrolet 4 dr sedan that had rust all over it - they wanted $10,000! Can't understand why they thought it was so valuable..
8.

Quote:

Was the 32-33(?) sedan for sale? How much? Looks original, what kind of shape was it in? Looks like it had a paper on the windshield.

Bill, no, the car was not for sale. Yes, it was original and appeared to be in GREAT shape!
9. Photo from meet attached - I just LOVED this car!
10. We were there as well - found some running boards and enjoyed looking at all the beautiful cars! I even bought a '55 Caribbean.. diecast (!) I'd post a photo or two myself but I'm presently at work so that's not do-able, perhaps later.... The weather held out for the most part - not as sunny as the weather reports led us to believe it would be, but no downpours.
11. I've only received 3 or 4 issues so far myself as I am a fairly new member (signed up at Hershey!), but I remember thinking, after finishing the first issue, "this is just as good as my Hemmings Classic Car or Car Collector magazines" - I was extremely impressed and continue to be so. Kudos to those responsible!
12. Wow 40Darrin - I'm sure we all wish we had an uncle like yours! What an awesome inheritance. That's one of my 'dream cars'! ENJOY!
13. I am from Raleigh but have lived in Ohio/Northern KY area for the past 10 years - my parents are both from Asheville so I've been there many times - what a great area!
14. Today around 5:30 Us - Black Reatta You - in a Driftwood Reatta trapped in a stream of traffic due to a crash where a Honda Civic rammed into the back of a Mercedes SUV that had stopped to turn ...... Didn't know if this was someone on this forum or not - I know there are a lot of folks in the Greater Cincinnati area on this board....
15. Wow Jim - Nice coupe!! We have a '39 4 dr sedan ourselves in original condition... I love the coupes though because of the backside on them. Wonder how many other folks on this board have pre-war cars?
16. Wow - must be a huge relief to be "legal"!! Happy driving!
17. Peter - LOL!! I don't care who you are - that's funny!
18. What a nice looking car!
19. The second one we found was in Russellville, OH. I believe it is now just a garage of sorts...lots of old car parts and pieces lying around the area.....
20. We found a couple to share. First one (attached here) is located in Williamsburg, OH and used to be on the "main drag" before another road took its' place...
21. He sold his Reatta so he probably doesn't feel the need "stop by" anymore. I haven't seen a post from him since the sale.
22. You can go to www.chevsofthe40s.com and www.obschevy.com - they are a good source for parts. Steele Rubber is a good place to go for your seals. Hopefully someone else can advise you where to go for carpet. I think the 12V vs. 6V depends on if you want to add extra stuff (radio, etc.). If your wiring is original, you may want to go ahead and get a new harness - Rhode Island Wiring is a good source. Just my $.02 Good luck on your car! Sounds like it is pretty nice!
