  1. Hi; Good questions you ask. I would start by asking yourself how far do you want to go with this car? e.g. fix up to putt around with, restore to show or display etc.. Consider how original you wish to keep her. Then consider your budget, how much of the work you can..or want to do yourself. Find all the available literature you can for your car. Enlist the help of those who own or have restored this particular make/model.(They are often good sources for parts). Before you remove even one bolt get your notebook and camera ready to document every step you take in dissasembly so you can put her back together the way she came apart. Be prepared for surprises , they will come. Above all have fun even if things don't progress at the pace you wish.

  5. Chuck; Hi, If you have a model AA it was offered in 1910. I don't have any idea as to production numbers for that particular model but am under the assumption that approx. 10000 Maxwell cars were produced in 1910. How many of these were AA's, I can't find any sources to determine. If any of the long term members have more accurate numbers please reply. JO BO
  6. Howard; Maxwell actually started very early in offering delivery type bodies, the secound year of public production (1906) believe it or not. Go to the Maxwell Messenger and look under 1906 model brochure and go to page 16 and you will see an illustration of the 1906 Model O delivery wagon. JO BO

    1905 rear axle

Does anyone have a crystal clear photo of the rear axle for a 1905 Maxwell? Photo dated, Factory pics etc....... The few photos I have seen from the era are dark with the axle not visible enough to see. Thanks JO BO

  14. Hi; I am interested in any pre 1905 automobiles. Prefer an unrestored one. Make is not that important. Please send me pics/price of what you have. email twodeadone3@netzero.net I thank you in advance.
  15. I gave the price guide a look and was very disappointed. I valued early Maxwells and pristine examples from 1905-1908's or so are only priced at $10,000.00. I have never been able to find a pile of junk for that little, so I think an upgrade is in order. I imagine some of you have checked out your cars/models as well and have found similar problems. It's nice that there is at least a source for car values online but one would more appreciative if it was accurate. JO BO
  16. Hi; I would surely miss this forum if they pulled it as I check it out a couple times a day so it's part of my life. I couldn't quite make out the images on the trays; did Maxwell have one by chance? Jo BO

    1909 Model D

What are the chances of finding an engine/transmission (4 cylinder) for a 1909 Franklin D touring? I know very slim but I'm putting out the call. Thanks JO BO
  21. Okay I see my folly there. How about a 1927 Oldsmobile 30 E then? I notice some Whippet's carry similar lines as well but I only found the hinge placements on a 1928 very rare body style (Holden) Australia so I would go with my Oldsmobile guess. At least this gives you something else to examine.. JO BO
  22. Okay Even if I have to take a little flack for my quess I'm going to give it a shot. How about Studebaker 1927? Thanks JO BO

  25. Phil; Thanks for your comments. I really enjoy debating this topic to see how others feel. I have always given thought to the material order of 500 L's and wondered if they staggered the order so changes could be adopted or? I thought the same thing as you in "Make the small changes and sell them as 1906's. Car number 261 still exists but it has an oak armored frame as does car #210. I wish an example from between 300 and 500 would surface so we may determine just how far they did go with the oak (Perhaps all the way to 500 as some have argued which would confirm the the order stats). Some have stated they would never make such a dramatic change mid stream...but if you have a problem..well you have a problem. Do you have a pic to post of your 05'? Thanks JO BO
