    Un-plug the wire and slip a piece of shrink tube over the exposed wire and up into the steering box a little where it exits the box and heat the part you can get at.

    The horn wire will quite often wear through the insulation where it exits the steering box.

    Huh.....my recently purchased 56 Suburban with the 2 speed power flight tries to move forward slightly while in neutral and won't shift into 2nd. Just a linkage adjustment maybe and not an internal problem ?

    This setup was used on larger Dodge trucks and I think that port was used for vacuum assist brakes or a 2 speed rear end. The vac advance could be operated from one or maybe both carbs. Hey.....Look here. http://www.langdonsstovebolt.com/

    You are correct and I made another error. The red head added 6 more horses,not 7. But after all these years the read head has probably turned silver too.
