  1. Well, if you lived closer to me in Calif. I'd pay $300 for it. If you gave it a compression test and posted the results you might get more $.
  2. Oh cool. A D42 engine is a 230 ci engine from a 51 or 52 Dodge car. A bit more powerful than a 50 Truck 218 ci.
  3. Two questions. 1) where is the engine located ? 2) what is the engine number ? It's located on the block just above the alternator in your 2nd photo. Reg
  4. Maybe a previous owner swapped out the original 4.1 ratioed rear end for a 3.5 or 3.0. I did this to my 52 1/2 ton. It now has a 3.0 rear and a 251 Chrysler L6.

  8. I make lots of reproduction instrument lenses for old cars. The type that are printed on the back of the glass. I'm looking for a 1934 DeSoto Speedometer lens to use as a guide and will make you a new one if you can provide me with an old one that's faded or cracked for free. Here's an example of one of 115 lenses I sell on eBay.
  9. 180 to 190 would be ideal. Your gauge could be off a little. I think 150 to 160 is kinda low and might tend to build up sludge in an engine.
  10. If you're lucky the problem is only the small wire inside the distributer with worn insulation grounding out when the vacuum advance kicks in.
  11. I reproduce lenses for vintage automobiles and wondered if anyone here can identify in what vehicles these dials were used. I sell over 100 lenses on eBay as "grandpadodge" I have found at least 4 different types with the same round dial. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Reg Evans
  12. Hi there, My name is Reg Evans and I make reproduction speedometer, gauge, radio, and clock lenses for old cars and sell them on eBay. I found this image of a clock lens on line for a Studebaker and I need to know what years it covers and the dimensions of the glass. Anyone here have one and know about it ?   16. I bought this rear end the other day for my 33 Plymouth from a man who said it came out of a 1933 Plymouth Coupe but that it wasn't stock. It has 3.58 stamped on it (hope that's the ratio) and then a casting number of 600211-13 and it has bolts with the DB logo cast into the heads. It needs a new pinion seal so I'm wondering if anyone has a book that can identify this rear end so I can order a new seal ? I'm also wondering what vehicle may have donated it. It has 10 x 1.5" drums.

  20. Fill me in Please. My old cars are 30's and 40's vintage. What's a DA6 ? 10 to 20 is a pretty good spread. Is the engine hot or cold when you're getting these readings?
