  1. hi matt, is this overdrive transmission original cadillac equipment ?, or something that has been added to the cadillac, thus making the cadillac a modified vehicle ? charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  2. i think you'll find that the answer is yes, most, if not all general motors products then were red oxide painted below the body colored fiewall, and all the way back to the end of the trunk floor pan. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  3. hi rsd9699, you may have a typo error, the usa officially entered WWII after the attack on pearl harbor in dec of 1941, not 1942. jim edwards is quite right about regular automotive production halting in february of 1942, in fact the very last car built was a new 1942 pontiac on february 10th, 1942. exception would be the military staff vehicles built for the armed forces during WWII. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  4. alk, you're a wise man, lol, charles coker.
  5. glad to hear the weather cleared up, great looking cars and garage, thanks jay.
  6. hi alk, i like the idea, your rebuilding the packard to suit your personal taste, which is just like what i'm doing to my 1953 pontiac chieftain custom catalina. i've added not only the 54 pontiac in dash factory a/c, but i am also adding the 55 buick rear factory a/c. if you have come across a complete 55 packard a/c system, i say "go for it ". here's some pictures of my two a/c parts. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  7. hi, the dark small one with red paint and the "T" is toyota, and the chrome cap is from superior wheels. now the wire wheelcover came available on several different makes, starting in 1953 on pontiac, nash, plymouth, kaiser-darrin, darrin, and studebaker. most used their own crest stamped into the small center cap. pontiac used a lucite plastic emblem for 53 & 54, auburnseeker, buick didn't use this design of a wire wheelcover, buick's were much flatter than this one. i'm thinking this one pictured is either a plymouth or studebaker version. when these were ordered on 53 &54 pontiacs, the factory would not install the fender skirts. here's what i did to have wire wheelcovers on my 53 pontiac chieftain custom catalina, i use the 1953 oldsmobile wire wheelcovers, and installed the 1953 pontiac rear fender emblem. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  8. only if they swim slower than the amphicar, lol
  9. i bought the only one i have ever seen for 1954 pontiacs, it is NOS, and still in it's original cardboard box. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  10. no, it looks like a 1964 or 1965 ford falcon four door sedan
  11. "we don't have any money left for a mud bath"
  12. who says dodge trucks don't make waves ?, surf's up !!!
  13. the dodge truck wasn't happy with the bikini carwash it received, so it wanted to return it.
  14. 1 7/8 front to rear, 3 1/2 side to side
  15. the distance from rear stud to front stud is 1 7/8th inch, from side to side it is 3 1/2 inch. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  16. hi ron, the 1956 pontiac factory dual quad set up is alot more than just the intake manifold and the right number heads, the 522935 heads were factory milled to achive 10 to 1 compression ratio. you'll need a number 6 mckellar cam, special distributor, several more special parts to complete the set up. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  17. hi 58srgreat, i have seen and have 60 pictures i took of the copper colored bonneville special, i've only seen pictures of the green one. the copper one is unrestored, the green one has been restored, i would show the copper, i would drive the green, joe bortz has promised me a ride in the copper car, whenever i come to visit him. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  18. maybe we would have better luck catching the waves, if we put the surfboards under the wheels, and fasten them to the car, huh ?????
  19. hey dave, it says 1955 special doesn't that make it a buick ?, pontiac's last year for the basic chieftain special was 1954. hey fstede1, if you are asking about a 1955 buick special, you'll find the buick braintrust and experts in the buick forum section. i would think that the firewall is body color, the inner fenders and radiator support a semi gloss black, not flat black. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  20. hi csteve, if these are original rims, then yes, inner tubes will be required. either 8.00x15 or 8.20x15 will be tire size. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  21. ahh man, now that amphicar gonna get away
  22. ain't it illegal to use the datsun to help dig for clams ?
  23. hi, you're much better off, to leave the 430 in the buick it was built with. what is your reason for wanting to swap engine and trans ?. the 430 and the turbohydramatic 400, is one of the best combination to ever come in a large electra 225. the car will be worth more money if you ever want to sell it with it's original engine and trans. if it's fuel economy that you're trying to improve on, you can get an overdrive to work behind the turbo 400. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  24. beautiful photos, i've always loved the looks of a connie, and the even more beautiful 59 buick, what an awesome pair, thanks, charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
