  1. you have a very nice 55 starchief catalina, but fully loaded it is not, standard steering, looks like standard brakes, manual windows, no factory air conditioning, no autronic eye, it does have the optional four barrel power pack, non correct dual exhaust, non correct alternator, first year for dual exhaust was 1956. no optional wire wheel hubcaps. like i said, fully loaded it is not. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.

  4. hi fitz, my catalina is a 53 model, the pontiac factory a/c system, i remove it from a 54 starchief sedan. there are two 1953 pontiacs with the 1954 pontiac factory air conditioning, my catalina, and a 53 chieftain convertible as well. hi goose-em, after eddie edmund died, his family closed up the business, later the fenton company bought all the inventory. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.

  14. hi jonny, d yaros and oldsfan are correct. i was always using just the hand brake for parking unless on a incline, then it was point the front tires so the car would roll against the curb, pull the hand brake, shut off the engine, then put selector into reverse. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  15. hi, i always like the idea of hanging tennis balls on string from above in the garage to help you not bump the car into something. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  16. hi jim, you are correct, it was 1970 for the epa, thank you, charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  17. hi, i have six of the olds wire wheelcovers myself without the retainners, so i'm going to try using the clips to hold my wheelcovers on. i've modified the center caps by removing the olds crest emblem, and installed 1951-1953 pontiac indian head rear fender emblems, yes i'm using the olds wire wheelcovers on my 1953 pontiac chieftain custom catalina, the olds wires look so much better than the pontiac wires, and the olds wires allow me to have my fender skirts on too. yes six wire wheelcovers, four wheels on the axles, one spare in the trunk, and one on the cont. kit. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  18. hi, what can i say that will change your mind about putting in an olds 350/turbo 350 trans powertrain ??, what's wrong with the 50 olds 303 ?, i used to own a 50 olds 88 four door sedan, all original, that olds would fly down the highway. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  19. thank you willie, hey mike, switching to the 134A junk is not the only way to go, i refuse to believe most, if not all that the jimmy carter created EPA has to say about R12 freon, as i have stated before, dupont's patent on R12 expired, so they paid washington dc to declare R12 unfriendly to the ozone layer-BULL !!, anything said about the ozone layer being harmed by R12 is pure speculation, not proven facts. that 134A junk is a very poor performer, doesn't compare to R12 at all. in my 1953 pontiac chieftain custom catalina will be both the 1954 pontiac up front, in dash a/c made by harrison, and behind the rear seat, the 1955 buick rear a/c made by frigidaire, and i'll have nothing but R12 in it. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  20. hi pete, what a beauty, congrats on getting it, way back in 1976 or 77, i almost bought an identical twin, except the one i didn't buy was a roadmaster, and it had those door knob type add on bumper horns. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  21. hi, this carburetor was rebuilt about ten years ago, i bought it with a stock intake manifold, i was going to use them on my 1955 pontiac 287, but i found out the 287 had smaller ports, and i sold the manifold already, this carburetor has been stored inside, and inside a box, comes with a box of gaskets. $200.00 plus shipping. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor. 417-693-5219
  22. hi goose-em, the answer is yes, all pontiac sixes from 1935 to 1954 used the same harmonic balancer. pontiac master parts catalog says so. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  23. well, why am i not surprised, another a/c gas being labeled unfriendly and will be jack up in price. there is no real proof or truth about the damaging the ozone layer, just more money for the makers of freon gases. when dupont's patent on R12 ran out, guess what, no more royalty payments, so they paid the lawmakers to make this cockamamie story with the tree huggers to phase out R12, and guess what, oh we have a new gas, a new patent, another thirty some odd years to collect royalty payments. now they're doing the same thing to R134, which is by the way, is a real crappy gas in the first place. the jimmy carter created EPA needs to be dismantled, and shut down pernamently. see what they're doing to the gasoline lately. i'll just bet old al gore is rubbing his hands together, trying to come up with another book that's full of lies. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  24. hi, i understand why you would feel more comfortable with a dual master cylinder, but look at how many old car owners that are just as happy with the original single master cylinder restored to work like new. your 46 pontiac, like my 53 pontiac, has a great working hand brake, that i have used in the past when brake problem happened, same as when i had a 37 olds f37 coupe. for years in the fifties, hundreds of thousands of gm cars built with the treadle vac power brakes, single cylinder master cylinder from 1952 to 1958. now a days almost everyone with these, want to get rid of the treadle vac and hang something newer. i say bull. that's my opinion, you know, everyone has one. i'm perfectly happy having a treadle vac in my 53 pontiac custom catalina. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
