  1. hi oldsmoreo, i sent you an email, charles coker.
  2. hi jon, if you have only one taillight working, and you know the bulb is good, then you have either a bad ground or a break in the wire that send voltage to that bulb. there's one wire going from the headlight swith to where the one wire splits into two. but you need to get the wiring diagraham for your olds, i'm sure someone in the olds forum, or olds clubs can help you get one. it sounds like to that whoever change the olds so that it would start on 12 volts, meant to leave disconnected the power source for the fuse block, that pretty much everything you listed as not working has a fuse there in the fuse block for protection. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  3. hi, you may have a check valve ball that's sticking when the transmission valve body and trans fluid is cold, and perhaps you're bypassing this sticking check ball when you use low or reverse, might want to have your mechanic pull the valve body out, completely clean it out and reinstall it, and test drive when trans is cold again. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  4. hi, the threaded openning at the bottom is 2 3/8th, the openning where you open it is about 1 3/4th to 2 ". the wings measure 10 1/2" tip to tip. charles coker.
  5. the 60 cadillac made the 59 design more beautiful, as did the 60 pontiac to the 59 pontiac, the 60 buick failed the beautiful 59 buick, and the 61 buick failed even more so. cadillac failed all the eldorados that came after the 67 to 70 body style, and those first generation of front wheel drive toronados and eldorados should have had a retractable hardtop option. as did pontiac and chevy failed to give buyers a 69 to 72 grand prix or monte carlo convertables. the packard hawk really failed the studebaker hawks. where the 56 pontiac failed the 55 pontiacs, the 57 pontiacs more than made up for it. the 53-54 pontiacs were a wonderful facelift of the 49 to 52 pontiacs, charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  6. hi, i have this boyce's moto-meter for buick, shows patented may-18-13, mar-17-14, july-16-18, and aug-13-18, would that make it a 1918 model ?, i'm thinking of selling it, but i don't know what it's value is. please help with information, thank you, charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor. charlessdv8@yahoo.com
  7. looks like you can do what i did, simply mount the 12 volt 55-57 chevy wiper motor, hook up the wire control, and run the hot wire with an inline fuse to your fuse box. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.

  9. this is a green 14 ring binder, on the front in silver letters is "oldsmobile accessories", and in the lower portion, has the image of the olds ringed globe. inside are about 70 to 75 pages of pink pages of oldsmobile accessories release & change notices dated from january- 1954 to april-1958. other than the chrome inside rings and spine being rusty, the binder is in good shape, all the pages are in good shape also. this must be rare, in 38 years of car shows and swap meets, i've never seen another one. $100.00 plus shipping, thanks, charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  10. i have the may/1947 pontiac service newsletter about 1947-47 station wagon body construction and service, 10 pages, and the 1947 body by fisher, vol 8, no. 2, about adjusting & sealing door window vents, a bonus is 1947 pontiac service craftman's examination # 47-1, and 47-2. all of these are in excellent condition. $ 25.00 for all four, plus mailing postage. email me at charlessdv8@yahoo.com, or call me at 417-693-5219, charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  11. volkswagen's thoughts of relocating the mexican production to canada, were changed when this car was spotted outside where the meeting was being held.
  12. hi sweed, i have a 1953 pontiac that also had vacuum wipers, and even with a light throttle, the wipers would either slow down or stop completely. all i did was buy a 1955-57 chevy 12 volt electric wiper motor, it mounted the same way the vacuum motor did, i had to move the horns up to the radiator support. show me a picture close up of your vacuum motor mounting location on your old's firewall, that will tell me if you can do what i did. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  13. hi jud, i'm glad my tip paid off for you, i know sometimes you've got to pay a little extra for the correct brand of parts. guide vs globrites, trico vs anco, i'm the same way with my 1953 pontiac chieftain custom catalina, it's got to be nos, not nors. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  14. hi jud, go to ebay motors, and search for item # 160557191571, these are a new pair of trico 12" wipers and blades for 55 oldsmobiles, hopes this will help you, charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  15. hi, such a nice find, you did real good, make sure all the old fluids are drained and refill with new. be prepared to go thru the complete brake system. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  16. hi, if 59bluebomber doesn't have all you need, look up pontiac historical services, although no pontiac records exist today for pontiacs older than 1961, jim at phs might be able to help you. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  17. hi martinos1, the pedal rod is part of the treadle vac power brake unit. the pressure you think that the booster holds is a negative pressure "vacuum", the cannister you mention, is the vacuum resevoir. between the treadle vac, cannister and the engine is a vacuum check valve, to keep the vacuum in the resevoir cannister, fpr several power assisted applications of the brake pedal if the engine stalls. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  18. i'm sorry, this qualifies as the most disrespected reatta of all times. i don't know how someone can live with themselves after they've done something like this. the vw, ok, millions of them around, but a buick reatta, never. i'll most likely have nightmares tonight. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  19. hi, do the 1949 buick 15" wheels have the riveted on small hubcap clips ?, if so, how many 3 or 5 ?, and what's the diameter of the clip's area ?, thank you, charles coker.
  20. hi, i want to say thank you to mr. larry schramm, for being a hugh help to me yesterday. i was looking for someone to transport two 1954 pontiac doors for me, from maumee, oh. to springfield, mo. larry answered my ad on here, letting me know that he was driving from michigan to oklahoma. when the person i'm getting the doors from, couldn't meet larry at a toledo, oh. area truckstop, larry offered to drive over to where the doors were being stored. larry met me in springfield, mo. and he delivered the doors to me. it's so refreshing to see an act of kindness from one old buick truck nut to an old pontiac nut, larry, please let me know when you're passing through my area again, i'd like to say thank you again. thanks so larry, charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  21. hi, the front end rebuilding looks to have been sold, thank you, charles coker.
  22. hi nzcarnerd, i'll stand by my guess of it being a 1928 model, perhaps a 1929, the 1930 model had a different grill, and had wood spoke wheels, the lasalle in the picture has the 28-29 grill, and steel wheels. charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor.
  23. i'm wanting to buy in good or better condition, five or six 49 to 53 15x6 cadillac steel wheels that have all five hubcap clips riveted to the wheels, thank you, charles coker, 1953 pontiac tech advisor. charlessdv8@yahoo.com
