  1. The ball is fine but the splines seem a bit damaged as it won't slide onto the arm from the steering gear. Tried to take angled file and clean it up but not really helping. Thanks for the suggestion. Rod
  2. Want to make sure I'm clear on what I'm looking for. The arm which has female splines which attaches to steering box and it curves under frame and has ball which attaches to bar/link with other end of the bar/link attaching to center link which attaches to tie rods, both left and right. The arm I'm looking for is probably 8 inches long and curves to about 90 degrees. Just wanted to be clearer--like mud. Thanks Rod

  9. Got the heater. ID tag on back of heater assembly shows Harrison #48. The core is 8 1/2 inch in diameter. The center hole for the electric motor is 2 3/4 inches. The core is 2 1/8 inch deep or high. The intake/outlet tubes are 8 1/8 inch measured from outside to outside, with the pipes themselves 5/8 inch. Intake/outlet pipes 8" deep and the distance between the pipes where heater hose attaches is 7 1/2" outside to outside. Not sure how to attach photo but if you give me your email address can attach if needed. Thanks and let me know if you have a core which will work. Thanks again. Rod
  10. Need to pick up from shop but pretty sure it is Harrison #46. I will double check tonite. Thanks Rod

  14. Thanks for response. Know others have used 12 volt battery hooked directly to starter to overcome low rpm's and Advanced Electrical offers the High Torque Starter which is new windings which is supposed to increase RPMs. Expensive and want to know if anyone has experience before I jump off and have starter rebuilt. Thanks again
  15. Recently posted re my 36 starter not turning over engine fast enough to start and received several good suggestions, from simply being patient, not my strongsuit, and letting engine break in to hiding a 12 volt battery to use to start. I'm curious as Jason with Advance Electrical Rebuilders suggested converting starter to high torque. Cost is substantial but have to admit I'm intriqued. Has anyone had starter converted to high torque and what is the result? New windings are installed and am told that this would improve operation. Please let me know if anyone familiar with conversions and impressions. Thanks Rod
  16. help me out--understand high torque would cause more rpm for starter, engine but how is it accomplished. I have extra starter and if it would help would be willing to ship and have it converted. What is cost and turnaround time? I assume it would look like photo? Thanks for the response and info. Can also contact me at rlcokc@aol.com. Thanksd Rod
  17. Thanks for suggestions and I'll see what happens. Will share with my mechanic and see what we can do. Don't want 12 volt battery unless just have to. Any more insight please let me know. Thanks again Rod
  18. Attempting to get my 36 Special running. Had motor remanufactured some time ago and finally trying to get vehicle running. Had problems getting 6 volt system to turn motor over fast enough to get it to start. Bypassed electrical and hooked 12 volt battery directly to starter and can now get engine running with extra turning power. Now when I try to turn over with just my 6 volt starting system can't get fast enough turnover to get it fire. The battery cables are big(recall 2 ought) so that should not be the problem. Will try new battery but don't think that is problem. Generator may not be charging fast enough and will check that. Any other suggestions/secrets that I'm not thinking about. My mechanic skills certainly limited so any help would be appreciated. Reply here or can send email to cookr@oge.com. Thanlks in advance Rod
  19. Wanting to reinstall the front seat on my 36 special and not sure how it intalls. Have hardware which includes the adjustment slide which attaches to floorboard on driver's side and rod but would like description/photos of how it all installs if anyone could help. Thanks Rod
  20. Could you post the present contact information for having the Uvira process. Thanks Rod
  21. I have 36 Special with dual sidemounts and not to point of installing. Still doing some painting. But I did not find any springs which I associated with my sidemounts. They have the piece which attaches to bottom of fender with threaded bolt which goes thru tire to secure. My sidemount covers consist of three pieces--the cover itself which hinges at top, the outside and inside cover. No springs that I know of. If anyone has photo of spring and how it attaches I would appreciate being posted. It is amazing of little I know and how much more I need to know to get this back together correctly. Thanks
  22. My 36 I believe is the same set up as I have two rods which I believe go thru cup as you describe. Don't think this one fits 36
  23. Knobs on radio were wrong--not white. I have original knobs as well as new replacements and they are a sandy brown
  24. That's really funny---didn't notice the date. Not sure I didn't buy that radio when listed 6 years ago.
  25. Does this fit 36 or before 1936? I have 36 with dual sidemounts and the cup lookis similiar but no nut with mine. If this does fit I will purchase. Rod
