  1. Found old thread which says 36 buick early had sending unit with no gas line incorporated in unit but late production had the gas pick up (fuel line) as oart if sending unit. I now have a sending unit from Bob's which I modified which I think will work. Contacted Dave Tacheny and he sent me 36 fuel sending unit whihc did not have gas pick up. The old unit which dosn't work consists of sending unit for gas gauge as well as fuel pick up. Would like to know if anyone else has 36 with fuel line as part of the unit or did someone change out my tank? If tank is original should I sned the unit to to have it repaired? Thanks Rod
  2. Actually I bought one similar to one pictured in post above from Bob's--before I thought to contact Dave. While to mounting holes don't match up exactly I was able to enlarge holes to get it installed. Has pick up for gas and the line to connect to gas line does not have flared fitting but is made for hose. The problem was on my 36 the metal gas line tube extended straight out whereas my original sending unit was bent to follow the contour of the gas tank. This created some problems on installation but I bent the metal line and connected rubber fuel line and it now functions. When I receive the sending unit from Dave will most likely keep and not replace until this unit fails. At this point it is working--altho not sure how accurate.
  3. Not sure what Dave Tacheny has for 33 but I just got a fuel sending unit from him for my 36, or should I say it is on its way. That's where I would go. I was surprised as I needed the fuel sending unit as well as water temperature gauge. He said he had them both. Good Luck
  4. Sent email asking about the model. Doesn't appear to have the hardware to mount the spare not sure about the drain cover/trangular piece at bottom of fenders. all in all would agree that it appears to be fair deal--will ask about filler--devil always in detail.
  5. Actually the air cleaner on my model 41 special runs as described for Century. My understanding is that it was option and the air cleaner is heavy duty, dustier climate. I have seen that air cleaner on several specials. I could be wrong as I once tought my heater was origianl to 36 until looking at sales literature. Don't recall where I read that air cleaner was option but know that is what I think. Just my 2 cents. Rod
  6. Once again thanks for response and wasn't trying to hijack thread. Know I've belonged in past and believe I am current member but will check and if not certainly will pay my dues and join. I try to support all the organizations which are helpful to us who are participating in the hobby. I also know in past I have received the document you are referring to and used to get newsletter from local chapter out of Tulsa. Not sure it still exists as I don't see listed or maybe my membership expired and I didn't renew. In any event thanks for the information and I will take care to do what I need to now that I understand. May just need to locate the hard copy book. Again thanks. Rod
  7. Carl appreciate response but I've been trying to locate the "membership roster" for the last 20 minutes. Help a old guy out and tell me where to find it. Thanks again. Rod
  8. how does one search the membership base to determine how many of one model vehicle is represented? I attempted to perform that search but not savvy enough to figure it out. Can PM me or post response--really appreciate the help. Thanks Rod
  9. Could you send additional photos of vehicle to cookr@oge.com? Would like to see enough to determine if I would like to come see the car. Located where in Kansas? Other than body color anything else not original. Would need photo of tag on cowl as well as engine bay and trunk. Thanks Rod
  10. Excellent point. My fuel line is metal all the way with no rubber hose. Does make sense that should provide ground. Never thought of it. Rod
  11. Appreciate the responses and I thought it may be ground but didn't think about using mirror to locate the sending unit. Car is on lift and I will see if I can get a peek and figure out where it is. When I purchased car it was not running and I replaced tank some time ago. I have photos of the tank when out but no measurements. I had thought about running separate ground to sending unit but could run to the tank itself and that should cure the ground issue. Appreciate the offer of the AC manuals but I was one of the guys you provided to a couple of months ago. They are very helpful I just haven't had time to jump in and one of the tests requires access to the sending unit to determine if working. I had a hell of a time getting the gas tank in and that is real reason I didn't want to drop. Used a come a long to hold tank as I tightened the straps. My problem was getting tank close enough to correct positon that I could start the straps. I did use material between straps and tanks to cushion. In addition I painted tank before installation--shouldn't be a surprise if grounding a problem. I'll get up on lift and give it a look. Biginning to think I should drop the tank and I think I only have to remove exhaust to get it down. Any other ideas/suggestions let me know. Thanks again. Rod
  12. Tom Could you take a measurement of your trunk--I think same as my model 40 but not sure. I tried to determine location without dropping tank and not sure if under trunk, divider between trunk and rear seat, or under rear seat. Really hope I can have access under rear seat. Appreciate response from both and if anyone has access panel in their 36 would appreciate a photo. Jon Would like to have dimension of panel as well as photo of its location in trunk and measurements of trunk as well, if not too much trouble. Thanks again Rod
  13. Had gas tank done by renu--installed and now not sure my sending unit working. Saw some posts on another thread about access above by cutting panel above sending unit. Seems like great idea and I really don't want to remove the tank. BUT without knowing where sending unit located on tank no telling how many holes I would make before finding sending unit. My question--anyone have tank for 36 model 40 handy where they could measure the location of the sending unit on tank and I could then use those measurements to determine where I would need to cut access panel. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Rod
  14. Spoke with Dave and he has the fitting for the brakes. Also reasonable cost and shipping. He has saved me 2-3 times on parts I didn't know if I could find. Thought I might have to have this one machined which would have been expensive. We are lucky to have a source for parts which is reasonably priced and easy to deal with. Rod
  15. I need the brass fitting which mounts to frame and is 6 sided. It has 5 holes,-one in from master brake cylinder which is in a collar and on top of the fitting and 4 out on 4 of the 6 sides, one to each wheel cylinder. Have placed call to Dave Tachney and not heard from him as of this point in time. The fitting is approximately 1 1/2 inch wide, 5/8" tall and then another 3/8" collar above which mounts to frame by going thru hole and a clamp going over the 3/8" collar. All the connections are flared and the threads on mine are stripped beyond repair. Don't know if bigger models used same part for distribution of brake fluid. Any help would be appreciated. Trying to finish restoration and this was not a problem I anticipated. Thanks in advance for any help. Rod
  16. yes-I ordered mine from them.
  17. Joel is correct--it is for mounting speaker. My car did not have cieling mounted speaker, was mounted under dash but did have the pressed board which would accomodate the speaker. I still have the wood piece as form and actually have mounted on bracket your referring to. Not replaced headliner and would suspect I will most likely remove as it appears it might interfere as the board I used appears to be a bit stiffer than the original board. Rod
  18. Thanks--didn't understand at first. These are the grommets which hides the hole where the bracket passes thru the body to frame I assume. I have those--somehow I thought rubber gasket for spacer. Thanks for the response.
  19. Didn't know about grommets--Do you know who reproduces? Rod
  20. Sent email to yahoo account with schematics--hope they are what you need. If not let me know and I'll look but don't think I have schematics for the other radio--believe these are for Ranger. Rod

  22. Attached photo-realize not the best but let me know what additional photo/measurements you may need. Hopefully this will help. Measurements of square difficult because of the the angles. If this won't work for your application let me know as I would be interested in purchasing. Rod
  23. Give me a couple of days and I'll post photo. Not sure exactly what you mean. I assume you're just saying take the curve out and measure straight up to the intersecting lines of top and bottom. Will do that as well. I'll post probably this weekend. Rod
  24. If you find these won't work for you would like the contact information as it sounds as if I could use on my 36 four door. I have the parts but an upgrade in condition would be great. If you need any measurements let me know as mine are not presently mounted so could help with photos/measurements. Rod
