EBAY buy it now $95,000 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6168&item=2475608169&rd=1

  3. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Not that I need another "basket case" project but I was born in 1963 (showing my age) and would love to own a vette just once before I die so if you would be willing to pass on the chance to own the 63 "basket" let me know. I just might make a road trip! </div></div> Bob, I still might get it, so I will hoard the info for now. It would still run me @ $18K so the thought process is being worked hard for a project. Everyone shoul own at least one Vette. I've had 4-- 1957, 1962, 1965, 1987. Each time I say, never again! (except for the '62 )
  4. Back to the thread, I mean Vette. Supposedly a numbers matching car, don't know the reserve but longdistance rates are down and so is air fare to Floriduh. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayIS...sspagename=WDVW Reserve met $31,000 Indiana - original, not restored from a collection, not numbers matching engine. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayIS...sspagename=WDVW Dallas one owner???? 72,678 actual miles buy it now $46,500.00 (not) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayIS...sspagename=WDVW Anyway, there are 8 listed on ebay right now. Search split window. I don't think the 67 outranks the split window but I could be wrong. Didn't know about the price earlier, that may be steep BUT, a C2 vette should be a C2 vette - wheelbase, frame, etc. I understand a different X member to facilitate the big block but the fram has still got to be the same.??? Dave
  5. lazy boy recliner and gangster lean, just like in da hood.
  6. Don't know what you would pay for this 63/65, but if the split window body is correct, I can't see the thing going for a dive in value unless it had cracks you could put your fist through and drove down the road sideways taking up two lanes. And even then, there were 10,594 coupes sold in 63 and probably less than half survived the decade. I know where there is a 63 coupe basket case in my area, supposedly all correct pieces. I just can't make myself go for another project. Go for it Dizz, the next guy you sell it to will too!
  7. A 63 split window is one of the if not the most valuable old Vettes out there, including the '53. This will seem strange but I have been told that an abnormal amount of 63 vettes found there way to Puerto Rico, and that many assemblies and parts can be found there. An aquantance had a complete car sent over to Floriduh from PR $700.00. including crating. I think 63 split windows are so valuable because they were so unpopular. First strectched out Vette, seemed weird compared to 53 - 62's, the split window coupe was referred to as a frog squating, thus the conversion kits to single glass (what a mistake that turned out to be). A split window with the wrong frame, wrong steering wheel, wrong engine -- would still be worth it's weight.
  8. O.K., I was worried for a minute, but then I got out the dictionary and looked up proliferate and I guess this thread may not be axed by the powers that be, whew!! such big words and me with such a little mind.
  9. I don't know about twice as much but streetrods are enjoying their time that's for sure. Not that long ago, you were a fool too mess with an original, you just lost all its value! Then it changed. What's worth more?: 48 Continental, nice body and paint, everything works, V12, 3 sp o.d., pwr windows etc.. 48 Continental, nice body and paint, everything works, 460 air cond, cruise, stereo with dvd, tilt, nice "modern" leather seats, pwr windows (electric), independent frt suspension........ see attachment
  10. Keith, the headliner was just tooooo obvious. I gave them benefit of my doubts that they said the car wasn't completed so they just couldn't leave that headliner that way could they? The cross tubed frame, exposed wiring, ..... I did like the headlights. By the way, that was in South Florida, or Northern P.R. / Cuba. That would make one tend to think of good headliners and upholstry??
  11. and as discussed just the other day on another thread, they ALMOST got it. Retro rod with off the shelve a/c vents, shortcuts on the console and shifter, autozone headlight switch, bone stock cheapest a/c controls offered, mount the master cylinder and hack a hole in the inner fender to accomodate, firewall left with dimples and punch marks (I assume it's done since it's painted and the graphics have been applied),Lincoln hood ornament. Gives streetrodders a bad name. If you are going to go this far, complete the journey. Proves one thing, the best parts of this car are the original Zephyr parts of the car. I apologize for streetrodders and for Floiduh.
  12. Peter, there is absolutely no doubt. It's a Wheel Puller Thingy.
  13. You know, lately there has been a lot of talk about rod vs original and class vs. smash and grab. The true definition of style I think is that someone could start with just a pair of those headlights to build around, and couldn't help but create a thing of beauty.
  14. Help this guy out you Zephyr folks. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=34207&item=7900140677&rd=1
  15. Sky I was quoting the following site" http://www.allpar.com/history/christine.html 1957 was sand dune white. and this site seems to agree with me too. I'm confused for sure, great movie tho http://57and58plymouth1.homestead.com/58Fury1.html
  16. Keith, I'm afraid I must agree with what you say. Some of the resto rods have great thought and detail put in them and then Wham! off the shelve, a/c or radio shack stuff. 20 years ago a stock was worth twice a rod, then it reversed. Will probably continue to change. Either way, I'm just glad they aren't being crushed, then someone in the future can reverse a rod to a restored and vice versa visa versacee veecee bothcha
  17. don't put wet small animals in microwave, let me tell you.................
  18. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Shame on me! I DID forget Christine! 1957 Plymouth Fury...what a honey! I found a model of Christine before and after out on eBay not long ago. Unfortunately it had already been built but nicely done. Good one, Mike! </div></div> Randall, in the movie and the book it was a 1958 Plymouth Fury. Some confusion comes from the first issue hard cover book with the dustjacket and a picture of Stephen King on the back cover sitting on the hood of a 1957 Plymouth. Also the Fury in 1958 was only available in buckskin beige with gold trim. Poetic license I guess.
  19. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">I may be wrong, but my feeling is that eventually, people will begin to realize how ridiculously overpriced these customs are and the originals are what will hold their value. Anyone with decent skills can fab up a halfway decent rod - only a select few are willing to chase down those elusive HB parts for their 37's, etc!...........JimNap </div></div> Everyone has an opinion but I believe it takes more than "Anyone with decent skills" to pull off the Barrett Jackson 400K car, or even as you say, a half decent rod. I have done both and both are taxing to the same degree only different . By the way, that car(400K) was, I believe from a guy in Seattle, the ebay car is in Portland and Jims' from Moses Lake WA. are they all in the Northwest? Mybe I should have stayed in Portland....nah . I am a hotrod / streetrod guy. They aren't supposed to be correct. The lean now is to restorod, semi-correct from 20 feet with all the luxuries, power and comforts of the millenium. The Barrett Jackson was a HUGE twist, an obvious custom (streetrod), keeping the lines and beauty of the original (restorod), all the comforts (resto), and a V12 - again semi-original, at least it was still a 12 cylinder with valves in block. As a streetrodder I am now restoring the 48 LC. It was a basket but all there. It would have been a great cantidate for a resto rod (big block ford, a/c, tilt. cruise, stereo, dvd...... but it was all there). Had to rebuild the V12, rewire the car, am going to fight with the od tranny wiring and hyd windows but I owe it to the car. The ebay car is already overpriced at the bid shown in my opinion. The car is past being owed anything, it needs massive transplants but don't chop or dice it, restorod it and cruise those beautiful lines down the interstate listening to the tunes and enjoying the climate control. When asked what it is, the answer won't be a 460, auto, airbag, etc. the answer will be its a Zephyr, and they don't make em that gorgeous any more. Just my opinions, I could be wrong.
  20. Daimond T Trucks a good name go to this site to learn and browse: http://www.diamondtclassics.com/index.php
  21. Mr Delorenzo and His take on the new Zephyr. http://www.autoextremist.com/page2.shtml#Rant
  22. Raymond Loewy did some good designs for Studebaker, but produced some really strange stuff (take a look at how Raymond Loewy ruined a 1941 Lincoln Cntinental at: http://community.webshots.com/photo/59943417/97536327yWjrzz and http://community.webshots.com/photo/59943417/97536187JQMKBH ). Phil, I'm confused. Did Loewy do this sort of uh, thing away from his job as an expression as in a hobby? I'm not familiar with these people and their stories, but I do know about Loewy and Avanti. The continental you mention seems a shame.
  23. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Yes Dave, California politics is almost as idiotic as this thread is getting, if you have no interest in Lincolns or Zephyrs, why pray are you not over on the Buick or Cadillac site, they adore chrome plated slabs on the quarter panels, and fishtails and portholes and straight eights, and God knows what, because they are Harvey Earl people like you, sorry as hell to have bored you with all this talk about Zephyr stuff on the Lincoln Zephyr site, if any of the rest of you feel the same way, I am out of here, let me know, Rolf </div></div> Rolf, you are now getting boring. Did I say I had no interest in Lincolns or Zephrys? No. I said I had no interest in like part numbers from Ford and 1937 Zephyrs. Why are you being such an Ass? I mention a post that got lost in cyber space that had tidbits of this and that and mention Harley Earl once, not Harvey Earl, don't know who that would be. Did Harley steal your girlfriend or something in high school? If you want to fight about what I say at least have the decency to quote what I say not some BS about me not having an interest in Lincolns and Zephyrs. You have been a thorn since I joined this forum and the LZOC. While others welcomed me and put up with my naive questions and lack of Lincon knowledge by advising and helping, which is why I would assume many come here - to learn - you have been rude, snobish, having a better than everyone else and smarter than everyone else attitude. Others on this forum continually apologize for you saying don't mind Rolf, he means no harm... that's just Rolf being Rolf, he can be very helpful and knowledgable if you can get around how he says it. I have received more personal messages from others trying to explain you away than any other subject by far. I have tried to mend fences with you before, I will not do that again. Please miss quote me all you want as I will no longer reply or refer to any post you make. Dave
